50 First Songs 100 Week Challenge

Hey Guys and Gals,

If anyone is interested, I created a playlist in Ultimate-Guitar.com for my own practice and convenience with the Pro tabs for the songs. You must have the Pro Subscription to be able to access it (I think it is worth it)
Due to copyrights, a couple of songs aren’t available (Billie Jean - MJ / Testify - Rage Against the Machine), so we have to rely on other sources. And I believe there are 2 tabs that are not official.
The playlist is under the same sequence suggested by this original post.
Please feel free to remove this post if it’s irrelevant or breaks any rules. (and I’m sorry about that). This is not an affiliate link, and I’m not trying to promote Utimate-Guitar.com in any shape or form. It’s just a convenient way to have it all in one place.

Hi guys, I finished 50/51 of the list today. hysteria is still a bit difficult for me. What I want to know is, should I rotation this list or go try the others? For example: songs that I listen to often. Please give me some suggestions.

edit:After this post, Josh released a new video for check learning tasks. What a perfect time

Posting so I can find this later

Very close to starting this but I’m struggling to break the song (another brick in the wall) into chunks to learn all the variations and stuff. you guys got any tips?

How long should you practice one part and when do you move to the next?

Hope this made sense, many thanks.

How long is dependent on you and how comfortable you feel. Make sure you practice the transitions from chuck to chunk so they don’t throw you. I like to add each chunk to the last and be sure I can play all chunks right before moving on further. Etc.

So I’m doing this. Sort of. I am planning to learn all these songs, but I’m not holding myself to any kind of time frame, as I’m also still finishing B2B and also will be taking lessons soon.

I also don’t plan to record videos for all of them lol. Some of these songs I just don’t care for, or don’t want to learn. Those I’ll learn the parts, so if I ever need to (get paid to) play them, I’ll be able to have them performance ready in short order.

But the ones I like enough to learn well enough to record, I will. Or at least some of them I will. Depends how time consuming the whole recording process is. But I want to record some demos anyway for when I start looking for a band.

The whole “time frame” thing went by the way-side, pretty much right after this all got started.

Approach it any way that you want to - enjoy it - learn from it - have fun with it.

Good luck and enjoy!

Greetings, rockstars! I’ve been wandering around the site a bit since the update, and noticed that the 50 First Songs have changed. Oof. But also yay! Jamiroquai! I think I’m willing to update the spreadsheet, if I can figure out how to get the settings right to share. The Spotify and YouTube channels need to be updated as well, but I don’t know how that works. Who has access to edit those?

paging @JT -who has not been around so not sure if he is checking.

with the course update, Josh added 50 more, and yes this area needs updating for sure if someone wants to take it on.

Yeah, I initially thought he just updated the 50, but now I see it’s 100 songs. So cool! I could still tackle the spreadsheet, but the Spotify playlist is Josh’s. If I take this on, I will try to keep the original 50 songs in order since lots of people have been working on that list for a while.

It’s been a while but wanted to check in - have you looked into this? I was working on a spreadsheet today and sorted them by difficulty, then by alphabetical order. Not sure yet which are the “easiest” or hardest”, if anyone has an opinion I can get that updated and post the sheet?

I’m planning on starting the “50 More” in January 2026 if anyone wants to join
