6-string bass anyone?

Charles handles six string quite good.

Looks amazing!

Thanks. I got the strap as a gift and it didn’t seem to go with any of my basses, but fits this one to a T

I’ll take it to my Luthier and see what he can do, seems like it should be fixable. I contacted the site and they will give me a partial refund, so a brand new ESP at a discount, what’s not to like?

Sounds like a win-win, @Wombat-metal… More so for you, of course, but I am sure they are glad not to have to take it back and fix it themselves and ship it again and all that

Well I changed the strings on the bass and she is strung up. Will take some getting used to. The 6 strings not such a big issue.

What is throwing me is the 35" scale. I am off 2 frets consistently. Play a 30 or 32 inch scale, no big deal. 35 inch scale, and I am messing up a lot

Also will need to do some setup. Compared to my other basses, this one is very quiet. I think raising the pickups is in order.

Second thought, and I am an idiot. First step of trouble shooting an active bass…change the battery.

I was looking at some Bach tabs, and many of the songs use frets 16-18 consistently. I think I will transcribe one to the 6 string, and see how that goes. I find frets around 10 much easier to play.

Unfortunately, ‘step 1’ seems to become less obvious the more technical knowledge you acquire. We’ve all been there, and will be there again. But hey – beats rewiring the thing or whatever!
