A little music related fun (Part 1)

Liechtenstein :metal: :metal:

432/1 million inhabitants… probably comes out to 2 metal bands

PS: Luxembourg not so shabby either. @krescht, that you??

According to the website, it’s 100 bands for Luxembourg:
https://www.metal-archives.com/lists/LU
However, this listing also includes bands that do not exist anymore. And I know at least one band member in a third of the bands

For Lichtenstein, it’s 17 bands that are listed.

The numbers are from this site:

Searched by country and divide by number of inhabitants. The numbers do however include bands that split up or are not active anymore.

What’s up with Greece here. Definitely an outlier compared to countries around it.

Still getting my feet wet on this site as I am the ultra noob…
I like this thread, only got to post #300 but will pick up later on all the 5,000+ replies…
…hope this tidbit of trivia is not a repeat-

Name this song:

If you do not know it already, I will drop these hints,
It was a truly “Revolutionary” album from 1968 on which it was released and is perhaps the “great grandfather” of metal in that (according to some) is the first heavy metal song recorded.

What song is it?

Respectfully,
Frank W.A. Beard

Elenor Rigby?

Yep, Helter Skelter…a fairground attraction consisting of a tall spiral slide winding round a tower.

A tougher trivia question:
Who is Rudy Martínez better known as?
Hint: one hit wonder band from the 60’s.
Another hint: The artist in question symbolically preceded the artist formerly known as Prince.

Respectfully,
Frank W.A. Beard

Can anyone tell me how to get this tone?

Jazz bass with rounds (PJ OK), fairly low action, but not super low; bridge PU full on; neck PU at 80%; tone probably full on (if it were a passive Jazz); plucking on top of the bridge PU and don’t be shy at it
Those would be my general recommendations. Those specific pups on that bass probably add to that tone as well. Also, it is of course active, so probably bass boosted a bit (and maybe the highs as well).

Otherwise clean tone (as far as I can tell); no distortion or fuzz…

Those would be my guesses

As far as I know, the tone comes from the Mala 5 proprietary Mayones Velvetrone pups: a Probus 5 (P bass) at the neck; and a Muscle 5 (switchable humbucker split coil: with parallel, serial, and MM tone options).

My impending custom Mayones Jabba Custom EP build will be essentially identical in every detail to a Mala 5, with the exception of being a 4-string with handmade Probus 4 and Muscle 4 pups (they don’t make these as 4-string pups otherwise).

Here’s a video by Bass the World where a few of the pups’ many tones options are demo’ed.

Others have that mid punchy tone too, eq, pickup, etc settings is what I am more looking for.
