I just saw them in July (wearing the shirt today w/ the cap) and he’s as cool as ever but holy crap he’s starting to look like an old man.

Yeah, he’s 63 and all that Rock’n’Roll lifestyle… but he’s one of the coolest guys ever, no matter the age. How was the energy when you saw them?

The music was as cool as it’s ever been. They haven’t lost a step there. I haven’t seen Social D in 20 years, the band itself was a little subdued compared to when I saw them in ‘04 / ‘05. Mike kept talking about the old days alot in between songs. If felt like I was watching Social D getting up into their mid 60s.

Social Distortion has always been one of my favorite live shows. I first saw them right after their second album came out (the one everyone thinks is their first album) and it was awesome. Ness is also one of my favorite musicians, despite being pretty flawed early on in the Black Hole days (which he is totally open about).

Yeah, they’re the only hats I look good in any more. And if I don’t say so myself, I do think of myself in some back-alley Irish punk band every time I put one on.
Of course, what’s really striking in that pic is my bigass belly. Time to start working out and eating better.
