I’m just curious because I’m so new at this… Is that a thing? One of my favorite bands had two bassists for years and years.
You can do whatever you feel lets you express your musical ideas.
More than one bassist can work; often, it doesn’t. Especially with guys like these here, it just turns into a shred-fest

A bass doesn’t need to be expensive. Firstly, find a good stick 
He is a Finnish musician and artist, called Johannes Wilenius, and the song he’s singing is from a Finnish comedy series from the 80s. The stick bass is really cool. You can see it better in the full video at his account here:
