Please tell me some dipshit didn’t re-discover the origin of their band names and then just assume they were nazis, has has been debunked like 90 times since 1980, and despite the band having overt anti-nazi themes in their music.

yeah, our political scene, like yours is a cesspit.
So, what happened is our PM (Labor, left-wing) had a reasonably successful meeting with your President, there were some complications regarding our Ambassador but I won’t go into it.
When he returned Albo (PM, who is quite unpopular currently) got off the plane wearing the Unknown Pleasures shirt that most of us likely own.
Facebook and the media went into meltdown over the purported anti-semitic meaning of the band name.
This was further complicated because he recently voted to recognise a Palestinian State.
The leader of the Opposition condemned him in Parliament.
What makes that even more stupid is that she and Albo were both members of “Friends of Palestine” when they were at Uni.
It is a complete Charlie Foxtrot and says a lot about the state of politics currently.
