What sort of pickup replacements work well with your PJ aerodynes?
I’m looking at getting one and need to use it for fairly heavy rock tones.
Thanks!

Easiest is the EMG Gezzer Buttler
Or you can go my route with
Relentless p
And passive EMG Riptide J
It’s pretty hot and aggressive that at the time I put on the tape wound strings to tame it a bit.
Ah cool. How do you find the Gezzer Butlers over the standard pickups?
I’m not sure I could live with the chrome pickups on an aerodyne!
I have the EMG GZR P/J on one of my basses and find them absolutely TERRIFIC!!!
Big fan of Fralin
Have Geezers in another and 1/4 pounders in another.
That said, the answer to your question is …
…any pickup that sounds good to you. The nice thing about Fender is everyone makes something for you to replace on them.
They are a bit more mid focused vs boomy to my ears.
I think @John_E just hit it. Mid gives the tone the definition depending on how you dial it. It can stands out or sit in the mix the way you want it. Before the active preamp you have to rely on the treble to help pimp you out Geezer just turns down the sub bass a bit to give more mid bass.
