I’m surprised you can even snap an E string before snapping the neck ![]()
Note to newbies: you should always tune UP (tighten string). If you go past, loosen the string and then tune UP again until it’s spot on. The string will stay in tune longer.
Got her all set! Just waiting on my Luthier Measurement tools to really get the Intonation dialed in.
It was pretty straightforward. I just followed a YouTube video. And yes, I would back it way off and Tune tighter if I wasn’t getting E on my little cheapo Tuner.
Felt good finally getting to sit down and work on putting some callouses on my fingers. Josh has some great Videos on YouTube for a beginner so I followed along on some Open E string playin🤣
I also wanted to thank everyone who chimed in on this Post
I haven’t used this yet, but I do have it Downloaded, thank you! It was enlightening to see what Hertz all the different Notes play at!
Turn the tuner until the string just has some tension, hook up tuner, then pluck and turn until you hit E. Easy peasy.

Try tuning the old fashioned way. Tune your E string on the fifth fret to your open A string. Or play the 5th fret harmonic to the 7th fret harmonic on your A string. It’ll get you close, then use the tuner to fine tune…
Hope that helps!
