Any sexy new basses you've got your eye on?

That looks really good. I didn’t know HB was making basses with quilted tops!

Oh, yes, I have the bigger brother of this one, the 6000NT :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

@RemcoRG: it’s a fantastic bass considering the price! It came very well set up and plays nicely. The pre-amp is powerful and you can dial in a lot of different tones.

The downside: it is heavy AF and the hardware (tuners, knobs, …) is certainly not up to par, but - again - considering the price tag, that is almost unavoidable!

Not new, but… very tempting

~$580 for a decent looking SBV-550. Delisting today if it doesn’t sell.

Hi Howard @howard,
How come it’s so cheap
Cheers Brian

  • it’s in Japan (they are uncommon but not unobtanium here)
  • it’s got some fading/oxidization, dings and scratches
  • the used market is a little slow here right now (I have my like-new Streamer listed for about $290US and it isn’t selling)
  • buyer pays shipping (uncommon here)

Even with all that, 40 people are watching it

It’s tempting.

I agree👍

It’s not a super unusual price here though, maybe $100 less tops. We should look for one when you visit.

several recents in roughly the same range.

Looks like Fumi from Polysics is playing exactly this bass right now too. I wonder how many she has, I thought she had a green one.

I am going to be so disappointed in myself for not buying this

Still, I really want to get down to just one bass. If I didn’t have that thing going right now I would absolutely make an offer on this one.

very probably just a photoflame print over a standard wood ; a lot of cheap brands do that

she has all the colors

I bet she does

I think Miki Furukawa (Supercar) does too; she collects the really obscure early models as well.

Meanwhile, another Miki (one more familiar to most of you) does kind of nail something on my mind lately - “Left or Right?”

Looks like he replaced the pups on the 734A. But yes, this is a tough call (especially since I already own one of them).

I should probably just stick with the 604. I love it’s neck, while the BB is a lot more like a P-bass in neck contour and feel. It still felt great to me, but it’s definitely a C shape, wider at the nut, and thicker.

Yeah. They look like Aguilar’s

Fuck it, I did buy it in the end…sort of. I found the same model online, in better condition for less money. So I pulled the trigger.
It’s been a shitty year and I just found out I won’t be seeing any family for xmas, so I’m treating myself to an unnecessary new toy.

I want this baby right here. It will be mine. Oh yes. It will be mine

Although there is one with just one set of pickups near the bridge. I wonder what the difference would be? I’m still learning about basses so I’m not sure how different it would sound.

Hoo boy where to start :joy:

The different configurations do sound different and of course, look different. I’ve had the HH double humbuckers and the single H setup on my Musicman’s. A lot of people say the HH setup is more versatile, that you can get a wider range of sounds. I like the growly sound and classic look of the H. At the end of the day either works and it’s just your preference. This is good:
