Bass Porn

I have one experience with a Charvel Bass and it was in the 90’s. An ex had a 90’s PJ and it was too close to an area where things happened. When we finally went to see what actually happened to it after being kick over and sliding a few feet I could only remark how tough that bass was.

IDFK, but love that neck, it is a beauty. I could do with out the inlays, or with orange pearl inlays and an orange pearl pick guard, but I can do with anything orange, so that should be to nobody’s surprise.

But I will take that white maple over roasted maple every time.

I love a maple fretboard on several colors/combinations. A nice, bright maple. That’s how my Arctic White Strat Plus is. Otherwise I have a sad lack of maple fretboards despite liking it so. It’s rarely an option on most basses I have an eye on; I do love black block inlays on a maple fretboard, too.

I like the roasted maple on @Wombat-metal 's blue Charvel, but it’s fairly uncommon for me to like roasted on most instruments. Maybe I’ll play with Kiesel’s builder and see if something catches my eye…

GFY, Kiesel… but I digress…

(it’s already a $300 fretboard :joy: )

Despite my loving them, my only Maple fretboard are my EBMM Stingray SLO Special that was a BFR in 2014 or 3016, I can’t remember, I would have to look it up again.
And on my Road Worn Fender 50’s Ventera P bass, and my Squire Pete Wentz Signature P bass.

All my other fretboards are darker woods like Rode wood, Jatoba and / or whatever else, I don’t know for sure.

It won’t stop me from loving a bass, but I prefer Maple, and it helps to make me appreciate the maple ones I have.

I still haven’t gotten one I like with roasted :joy: white or blue or purple or green was okay. I think the trouble is roasted is this plain sort of boring brown that doesn’t starkly contrast with much of anything…

I think I would pay for a walnut fretboard, though… maybe warmoth offers it…

What’s the neck on your SBV like? On mine it obviously has a nice rosewood fretboard, but the neck itself is this nice, slightly tan/brown heat treated maple. Of course this was a 2004 bass, before the new roasted trend

My bb1200 is still my go to no matter how much I love my Stingrays.

Continuing the Roasted Maple saga and combining it with “it’s too damn expensive”: Music Man StingRay Special HH in Dropped Copper with Roasted Maple fingerboard

Back in my red head days a co-worker used to call me Coppertop, so I have a soft spot for coppery things. I think the roasted maple looks great with the warmer tone finish.

Yeah that looks fantastic. I’d totally want the HH if I were getting a Stingray, too. And red is of course the best color

i got my best friend the stingray guitar version in dropped copper and it looks amazing in person. :+1:

I looked it up and it’s bee-yoo-tiful! @howard I went to GC to try the Sterling Short Scale because they had it in Dropped Copper. The finish, like @itsratso said, is amazing. But I liked the neck on the Gretsch G2220 better…and it was half the price.

But I probably wouldn’t send back this HH if it turned up on my doorstep. :slightly_smiling_face:

The Junior Jets look awesome too! Love the Les Paul-like vibe it has.

When I was waffling over whether to sell one of my Dimensions or my Jazz, the Jazz’s maple fretboard is one of the reasons it stayed. So nice.

I’m waiting for my guardian bass fairy angel too. So far…neither they nor unicorns have crossed my stoop.

Oh! I didn’t know unicorns were an option! (sits and waits for unicorns, too)

Double humbucker is really nice with pick. For slap I would go with one MM. Fingerstyle works on both but I think it’s nice you can rest your fingers on the neck pickup.

Yeah - I don’t slap
