Exactly, but since it cost rougly $1071 per string, maybe you can ask for around a $3213 discoint?
It’s a beauty, but I’ve never liked how wide the presence of the strings gets once you go beyond a 5 string. It loses some visual appeal for me. It’s almost like those body-builders that go too far on roids and it no longer looks natural, lol. N offense to PED using body builders or 6, 7, or 8 string and beyond bass lovers.
Having said that, I’m brand new to the bass world so there’s that.
Dark… star…
A capital idea!

I tend to agree. To me, a 4-string bass looks like a…bass. Just my take.
I’ve watched true world-class virtuosos play fivers, and I’ve paid close attention to how often they use the B string.
So far, on the majority of tunes, it hasn’t been very often. Of course, I realize there are bass lines written that incorporate notes specifically in the big-big string’s range, and that’s cool, and all.
FWIW, four strings are the most I want to deal with. Mileage invariably will vary.
oh my guh, catching up on this thread and the photos! It’s definitely the month of May on this thread - sing it, Julie Andrews!:
That darling month when ev’ryone throws
Self-control away.
It’s time to do
A wretched thing or two,
And try to make each precious day
One you’ll always rue!
Certainly one I would love to own

I’ve been on the lookout for a 4 string Infinity and they’re few and far between. This one is in Japan which would make it financially nonviable for me.
Do you know which store it is in? Or it is a private seller?
Ishibashi Music.
Ishibashi is a major chain - I have bought a bass from them before. They might offer international shipping that isn’t too bad?
It’s the tax and import duties that are the killer @howard.
They could easily add 1K to the purchase price.
Buying an instrument that is already in the EU makes a lot more sense unless the price differential justifies the extra costs.
Ahh, got it. Yeah, in this case the shipping is either EMS or DHL depending, and might not be too bad. But not much anyone can do about the import duties, especially as this one would be over most limits/minimums.
So that place is legit?
I’d only ever seen ads for basses from them with a really good price only to see that the shipping was as much as the bass itself.

Import duties are the killer here too @HowlinDawg
I’ve got the RB Infinity and although undoubtedly not the quality of the German made basses it’s still a killer bass

So that place is legit?
Yup, they’re legit and reputable.
Postage isn’t too bad actually, circa €200.00 to the EU so USA should be a similar ballpark.

I bought a P bass from Ickibie (sorry for mangling the spelling). Shipping was ~$230 and import duty was around ~$50 or $70 on an $1000 or so bass to New York. But nothing like it around so I was ok with the all in price.

Yeah, import duties in America and its Hat are nothing compared to the EU.
