I won’t be able to rest until I get my hands on a set of Nordstrand pickups. I should just upgrade my jazz and be done with it.
I hate when that bug bites. Good luck
You could do something like that with a simple mod for the Mighty Power
In fact my DiMarzios came with a wiring diagram for something similar
Basically just need to add one switch.
@howard Besides I really like Bite basses, I’d love to get a cheap second hand Squier to mod it that way. Perhaps without the parallel/series function but with two split coil pu’s.
FujiGen Mighty Power is under $700 at the current rates FWIW
By the time you route the Squier for the second pickup, get a custom pickguard to cover the second pickup, and get pickups themselves and the rest of the wiring/switches, you might as well get the BITE done…rite.
Or the Mighty Power
And better quality than a Squier. And I love my Squier.
But my Mighty Power is just better. Double P doesn’t disappoint
Can’t argue with both options, getting the Bite or the Mighty Power would be incredible. Shipping to Mexico is a nightmare. My favorite basses a p-basses and I don’t have one. I have my eyes on a 1984 Squier that could be a fun start. I think specific Squiers are awesome basses!
Aaaaawwwweeeeesome love the Black wood tones through it
Some guy near me is trying to sell his used on for 750 euros.
I wonder what the import duties would be for you
I’m guessing somewhere at 200 euros. @Mike_NL do you know?
The problem is not so much the customs duties, it’s the VAT (at least for me in Denmark…)
So, let’s assume the bass costs 1000 EUR and the shipping costs are 100 EUR. Then,
- the custom duties are 3,7% on 1100 EUR = 41 EUR
BUT, the VAT is going to be on top of the whole thing (i.e., 1000 EUR + 100 EUR + 41 EUR). For Denmark, it is 25%
- 25% VAT on 1141 EUR : 285 EUR
Thus, the bass will cost me: 1426 EUR
i don’t remember exactly what the amount was but when i found and ordered my firemist bongo in england, i want to say after shipping and customs to the US it was around $300. this was on a roughly 2K bass.
Here is the US duty schedule for reference…
Mailing and Shipping Goods - Customs Duty Guidance
Unaccompanied purchases are goods you bought on a trip that are being mailed or shipped to you in the United States. In other words, you are not carrying the goods with you when you return. If your unaccompanied purchases are from an insular possession (IP) or a Caribbean Basin Initiative (CBI) country and are being imported within 30 days and sent directly from those locations to the United States, you may enter them as follows:
- Up to $1,600 in goods will be duty-free under your personal exemption if the merchandise is from an IP.
- Up to $800 in goods will be duty-free if it is from a CBI or Andean country.
- Any additional amount, up to $1,000, in goods will be dutiable at a flat rate (3%).
Currently a new J-Standard Mighty Power is 789 euro. Probably 200 to ship it, or so. They make you pay VAT on the shipping? That’s just mean
They make us pay VAT on EVERYTHING

Y’all need to borrow some tea from us or the UK (after paying VAT of course) and start tossing it in the rivers
Haha, yeah, but for once, it’s not the EU, it’s Denmark… so, a Daxit is not going to help. In fact, there is no VAT when getting stuff from Germany, Italy, France etc. (as opposed to getting stuff from UK as of recent).
