Rosewood actually, still not the best

I’ve never seen a rosewood fretboard look that orange before.

To be fair it is the same colour as an Axe handle

The fingerboard is the least thing wrong with this.

This actually looks to me like one of the knockoff ones (yeah a lot of the knockoffs say Cort).

It certainly isn’t one of the higher end Kramer ones that was sold through Spencer’s and I don’t think it’s an original Cort either

It’s a beauty! And functional. If you’re playing a gig and the zombie apocalypse happens, you’re ready. What more can you axe for?

Edit above - Just found the listing… it is the cheaper Cort, verison 2 with the Mighty Mite pickups. The better Cort’s have EMGs, then Gene cost reduced them.

This is a lot for the cheaper Cort, should go for $750ish. This is the rage for the ones with EMGs.

The ones he sells now that you can get from him on the Kiss Kruise or his website are made by some el cheapo company and cost him ~$278 and are total crap(from a fairly reliable source), , but no one plays them…he sells them signed for $5-6K.

The original ones sold via Spencer’s are made by either BC Rich or Kramer (forget which), have a brass nut, hard shell case with signature emblem, and a very cool signature inlay in the fretboard, EMG pickups, etc and go for low $2,000s. Very hard to find.

The original Kramer’s sold with the aluminum neck, they go for loads loads more… well over $8K now

There are so so so many counterfeit’s of these and the Punisher’s, it is a very difficult space to navigate. People will even make fake certificates of authenticity, etc. It’s nuts.
You can get one to bang around for $250-350. Notice the price range, lol, the factory that makes the one’s he sells at shows is selling them direct, fake signature and all.

ya, I know, TMI - but I did my homework, figured I would share.

And full disclosure, I like it, and there is a spot on my wall next to the Spencer’s Punisher I have for the matching AXE.

In general not a KISS fan, but I think the sig basses are some of the classier ones.

That is a very good price for an original SB-5 in Europe. A rather nice burst too.

But my custom will be a P/MM.

Even better! When do you get it?

The soonest estimate is early 2024. But mine is going to be a master-build as opposed to a shop-build, so there is no ETA guarantee. Mayones has a wait list of two years right now. There’s so much hands-on building that it just takes time.

Wow I didn’t know the waiting list was that long.

Yep, it’s a sad fact. Mayones is way in demand, and they just can’t build them fast enough.

Also, my Jabba Custom EP will have 4-string Mayones-built, proprietary, in-house-made Velvetrone pups. My Mayones Mala 4 Signature Federico Malaman has Aguilar soapbar ceramic pups. The new custom will have the same body and neck, but a different voice, for sure.
