Yeah the old MB’s are awesome. I want to buy MB-40’s whenever I try them, neat little basses.
Time to counter the flying bananas with some actual bass porn:
Fender Vintera II 60s Jazz bass in Lake Placid Blue
Looks like… a jazz
I know, but it’s blue and doesn’t resemble a banana Besides that it’s just your average day jazz bass, I agree.
I really do like Lake Placid Blue a lot.
New basses from Fender on the market, well, re-issues counts as new right?
Bass VI
The interesting one, a Telecaster Bass with Wide Range Humbucker
And finally, a Mustang. This is a pretty bass
That looks like an unfinished color by numbers piece.
I really, really like this. Can I get this in Japan?
Yep! That picture is from Ikebe, actually; they will ship it to you right now in the US as well.
These are about $1500 US (236k JPY after tax, you would get the pre-tax price though).
Here’s the listing:

It’s on back order at the moment.
Ok seriously asking. Is everyone at Fender Marketing stoned out of their gourd? That bass looks cool, but it has literally nothing stylistically in common with a Telecaster, except the bridge is wonky in roughly the same way a Tele bridge is. I assume it has a Tele headstock, but that is not what makes a Telecaster really.
It’s a very nice looking P-bass body with an unusual pickguard (which also does not resemble a Telecaster pickguard) and pickup placement close to where a Tele neck pickup is (but closer to the neck). No good thumbrest though and the useless thumbplucking finger rest that no one uses anyway.
Bonus points for going outside their usual bounds though. I like it
I love the look of this one! Almost cyberpunky with the 14 pickguard screws. Eight in the switch control plate too
My work schedule takes me to Japan at the beginning of November. Maybe it will be in stock then.
Oh cool! One of the places in the store list for it is the one I go to in Shibuya, which should be convenient for you from the Yokosuka area. Let me know when you’re coming up and I can meet you there.
Will do. I was going to PM you about my trip about doing some “window shopping” in Shibuya.
Haha awesome, any time.
