I solve this by never playing 5-strings
@MikeC Gorgeous shape. I’m intrigued, who is the manufacturer ? It appears to have removable bridges on the B and E strings (for drop A/G and drop D tuning).
This is actually a Baritone Guitar. I mistakenly thought it was a bass.
It is a handmade custom from Mousetrap Studios.
I actually suspected this.
It’s still beautiful. I would love to see how to tune it.
Those resonator basses look amazing! Do you have any videos or sound samples that you can post to hear what they sound like?
I have one of me playing the green Resolectro Bass with my band. I am working on getting it uploaded.
Thank you!
Dammit! I thought I was done buying basses for a while!
Hooky touring with a custom red BB734A:
Yamaha pretty much makes him whatever he wants now
Interesting he went back to a 734A instead of his signature model. I was considering painting one exactly like he has it there too.
His son Jack rocking a normal BB734A in the same show:
That’s probably gonna be my next bass, I shouldn’t have sold the first one. Unless I decide to spring for a BBP34. It will definitely be one or the other.
If they ever produce that red BB734A I will buy it too, regardless of what I buy now
Show looks like it rocked:
Big crowd that is seriously in to the song
Didn’t he have, like, six or seven spares of that one, because they weren’t being made anymore?
That was the BB1200S! When he heard they were discontinued he bought all of them he could find
Still has a few. He recently auctioned the one that was used on every single New Order, Revenge, and Monaco album - it was his go-to instrument for 40 years.
And here’s one hell of a testament if I ever heard one: when the BB734A was released, he switched to it from the 1200S. Now he has a bunch of them and his new signature model.
Jack Bates (his son) has eleven of the 734A, and uses them both in his dad’s band, and also the Smashing Pumpkins.
Was someone here looking for a Tokai AJB? I thought I remembered someone was. I just saw a nice used one come up.
Hey @JerryP your future bass is a real looker:
Here it is next to something we’ll be talking about later
Did you play it?
Belay that. I just read the GAS thread.
I actually played a different one. Very very nice.
