Bass Porn

@MikeC the twin neck is strangely more attractive than a single neck Thunderbird.

ESP F-series neck through in Fire Flake. Apparently the seller thinks it was a show model exhibit for a new GrassRoots line and is one of a kind.

It looks to me in all the pictures I’ve seen of it that the tuners extend beyond the bottom of the bass, which seems to me to be a recipe for disaster. The tuners for my Ibanez headless are completely recessed and would not touch the ground or anything else it is stood on.

But other than that it’s kind of pretty.

The upright looks like it’s strung for a right handed player which might make it rather dangerous to actually play. Certainly wouldn’t want to get too carried away whilst playing!

I really like the look of that bass, especially how the fret board is brought down through the body. Looks real sharp. I would do a couple of things differently if it was my build
Look how all the 24 frets are easily accessible. I wonder to do that if the overall the body length needed to be shortened?

ONLY IN CANADA!!!

Don’t worry the F series is always the coolest bass in the room

This 1993 MIJ Yamaha catalog is awesome and I want one of each.

BB’s:

MB’s and BX’s (a BX-1 in particular would be an awesome snag):

lol and just like that, a BX-1 turns up used

Not getting it but one of the cooler variants of the Steinberger concept. Costs about twice as much as a Steinberger though.

they just did a steinberger heavy episode on the latest sbl. funny thing is i had just been looking on reverb at them (for some random reason) before the episode came out. i had saw the same thing that scott was talking about, that one model was going for around $17K used. turns out the 5 string version is really rare. and no i’m not in the market for one

They are definitely iconic and cool but not 17 large cool

I would actually prefer a BX-1 over something like a Steinberger Spirit though; more rare and IMO looks cooler. Plus MIJ quality.

Tokai also made a clone called a Spaceberger that would be a cool snag, and of course MIJ.

I’ll take ‘80s-‘90s MIJ over ‘80s MIA every time, much better gamble for quality.

If I got one though an Energy Dome would also be mandatory
