Costs EUR 1500 plus EUR 25 shipping over here in The Netherlands. That’s about HKD 14,345, or USD 1850.
I think you live in the best pricing zone possible when converting Yen to $US. The prices you find are usually significantly better than local prices in the US. Maybe in Yen it’s the same “cost” burden relative to average salary or something.
Could be! Ikebe (the music chain I posted that from) also has some kind of relationship with Warwick and orders tons of custombuilts. A lot of the “making of” videos for some of the truly spectacular ones are for them. So maybe they get a special price.
They have some beauties.
edit: just noticed the bass in the previous post is also on outlet sale for a special price. Most of the Teambuilts are at around $1600-$1800.
7.8 HKD to the US Dollar. So, HK$3,938 means the shipping cost is just about $500 US.
But actually, that seems like small beer if you play left-handed and have been looking for a 1990s Warwick for eons!
(And, I wake up this morning to see it is still unsold. Damn. Gonna be a long day.)
It’s a beauty for sure. It probably doesn’t help but I’ve owned two Streamers, both nice instruments and they were just Rockbasses
Also their customer service was awesome for me, when I had an issue I actually heard back from Florence Wilfer. You get the feeling that they are still largely family run.
So, as a brand, can totally recommend them!
Yeah, I already own two Streamer LXs: a Teambuilt and a Rockbass. Love 'em to death. Look like twins (both solid black gloss) but sound like chalk and cheese. Growly chalk and growly cheese.
But the 90s Warwicks (before the Korean and Chinese adventures) are supposed to be in a different league altogether. Sooo … they are quite rare to market; 10x more so in lefty. I might never get another shot.
Looks at Reverb for the 328th time this morning:
Eek. It is still unsold …
Awesome! Yeah it amazes me how different the Rockbasses and the MIGs sound. Both sound great, but different.
Supposedly the MIK Pro line is actually very very good, somewhere between the Rockbasses and the MIGs.
I see '90s here somewhat often (they are popular in Japan) but I have never, ever seen a lefty.
Thanks, @sfadams - I was just curious… not in the market for a Warwick (nice as they may be), and certainly not a lefty
Had actually initially overlooked the fact that it was a lefty… yeah, it must be so much tougher for lefties to find rare and special basses.
Once you hit “400”, you pull the trigger, OK??
Deal! So long as I retain the option of stopping at 399 …
You can’t… and you won’t
It’s just a $300 used SUBRay, nothing super exotic, but I think this walnut satin color looks really nice with the pickguard and chrome:
Just kind of an unusual and nice look for a 'ray.
It is! From what I hear and read, these are great basses, but I don’t think I will ever own one… I just don’t like their looks very much. This, though, isn’t all that bad… I am a sucker for walnut!
I actually would love to own a Bongo but there’s no way I am spending that much on one. If Sterling made a ~$500 SubBongo or something that would be a really compelling product.
Yeah… again, that full matte black version I could probably do (aesthetics-wise) - it’s like a stealth-Bongo
seeing those I am currently debating with myself upgrading from a TRBW304 to this beauty.
matte black for live

I even just ordered some Rotosound RS88LD Black Nylon for by Yamaha that would fit perfectly
Ooh nice, 35" scale, with a humbucker and a P. And gorgeous.
Looks very nice, @Neely . . .
