I would kill for that starry night bass.

I think I’d rather have a fart pedal than a swollen pickle…

Entirely depends on the intended use case. :cucumber:

The Danelectro. They squeeze a lot out of those tiny pups.

Yeah, they do! In my band, I used to rattle the rafters with my Longhorn and Bassman amp rig. Simplicity spoke mightily. :muscle:

BASS, the next gen?.. Willcox guitars
Does anyone here have any experience with these?

LightWave technology utilizes light sensing electronics to detect the vibration of the string, enhancing the instrument’s true voice by eliminating the magnetic influence or “pull” inherent in traditional pickups.

That’s a cool technology. I wonder if it has problems with stage light shows.

I also wonder what it does better than a piezo, it seems a bit of a solution in search of a problem, but it is very cool.

Edit: This is the RockBass version of it, which are great instruments in their own right.

Yeah, but the pic shows the Warwick Custom Shop Idolmaker, I guess.
That’s several 1000€ more.
Also: no short scale, unfortunately!

It’s always about the small thing. Sometimes the smallest thing that you discover is the tipping point.

You think the colour makes it expensive?

I have 2 Fretless one 4 string SL and the 5 string VL.

They are incredible. Both of mine came with optical pickups and Piezo. The sustain is pretty insane. I just realized that I don’t have any cover with either. It’ll be on the list for comparison. It’s one of the most accurate acoustic tone replica.

Yeah, I wouldn’t put a Dremel to it

LOL - I should not put a Dremel to anything! Most of my Dremel endeaveors were less than satisfying.

And that is a very beautiful bass as is!

Absolutely, @Al1885.

What’s interesting is that the original Dingwalls had rectangular 3rd party pickups, but moved to the rounded ones in the early 2000s. They look so much more ‘integrated’ with the fan fret design - no jarring angles.
