That thing has an unfortunate upper strap peg.

Huh! That is indeed a really weird place… I would imagine it would be on the back or top for those kind of V-shape guitars.

It seems you can wind the strap around the body?

You’d almost have to to stop it from flopping forwards.

I don’t think it’s meant to be played

i guess it works. but silly, yes.

Well spotted @howard .
I would make space for one of those in my collection. I find it very aesthetically pleasing

Not a huge fan, but the ashtray has to go.
Maybe if it had a cool modern bridge on it, I might like it better.

I am a fan of bridges.
Except Gibson / Epi’s

I like basses that have sort of a signature bridge as well. Like you can tell what bass it is from the bridge.

Like Lakland bridges. They make lots of classic shape basses like P and Ray body shapes, but you know its a Lakland when you see the bridge.

I Love the G&L bridges they are so solid.
Warwick

Music Man of course, both the classic with mutes and without I think I like best

And I also like a lot of the common designs that are on many to most basses.m I always prefer the upgraded bridge to the standard one.

For instance, on the LTD, on the B-4E, which is higher end then the B-155DX
5 string bass I just sold, the higher end model has a nicer bridge. Nothing wrong with the 5 string one, and you do need to look close to even see it, but the B-4E bridge , just a little more mass, little nicer saddles, but I am a bridge Geek, and I prefer the nicer ones 9 out of 10 times.

But since differences are subtle between models of the same brand, and I thats where I love signature bridges.

You could never say, oh, he is playing a B-4E and not a B-155 when you are watching a bass player from the crowd, but you could go, yep, thats a Lakland from the back row.

I am facinated by that one Bridge @Al1885 used on his custom built Fender with the gold les Claypool pock ups.
I love that one, the saddle less bridge, I just cant remember the name of them, somebody else will remember what they are called.
Expensive they are, but super awesome

It’s a Ray Ross saddleless bridge. I’m sure that @John_E can confirm its awesomeness :sunglasses:

There are some quirks like not being able to adjust the saddle height until you loosen the string is bugging a bit plus it requires less strings length as well so got to account for that too.

Oh they do look really cool. Nearly $300 aud makes it a bit of a luxury though :scream:

Yeah I was going back and forth on that one.

Honestly - despite being a HUGE fan of nontraditional basses, my take on this one was Fender should just stick to the four guitar models they know how to make. Aside from their amps, the company makes basically four things well - Strats, Teles, Jazz basses, and Precision basses - with relatively small variations like the Jags, Mustangs and so on. They have a few one-offs like the Jazzmasters that worked, but generally they should probably leave the large style variations to companies that are good at it.

This thing, to me, was like a bass example of the ā€œGreetings, fellow young people!ā€ meme.

I do like the headstock though, and the pink one is an amazing color

I tend to agree, but, this is a signature model, right?

After seeing the bass, then the picture of the guy with it, I figured he must be a big time guy getting a signature model

I figured it was a MIJ and I cant see them selling lots of them here in the states.

Edit. Yeah, I back read, only available in Japan

Yeah that’s true - this is that guy’s bass. I don’t know anything about him. Maybe he had his own mod and Fender went with it? Not sure.

That makes it a must have, lol

I like my Jaguar…I like the Jazzmaster body it has

Yeah. They did well with the Jags/Jazzmasters/etc - I mention those there.

But large-scale design innovation - it’s just not in their DNA.

I like that one too. Would love to play one to see how the scale feels.

You have not been looking at it enough times give it a few more thousand times it will grow on you.lol.

I do give them props for being radical with this one.

What I really want to see a short scale aerodyne with cool color options.

Probably not. Squier does some interesting things - the Jag with the MM pup in the P-Bass position is interesting (wish it came in a bit better model), as is the Paranormal. Though neither are really ground breaking
