Ooh. I love it.

I am a fan of that color, just would prefer with a single pick up please.
That is one of the blue colors I like, but the one in the current line up, called SPEED BLUE I think, is really cool IMO.

Yep, there is mine, well, my color, I like the Tri pick up design on the red one too, but that color, and shape really do it for me.

Hey, its ORANGE, and is even has my same name (Well, 2nd half of my Screen name anyhow)

Ugg!!! Some of their shapes / designs, just do not jive with me. Not the worst looking thing I have ever seen, not by a long shot, but for the money to buy one of those, nah, I would happily pass. I like Corvettes, but not much of their others really stand out to me. I would probably have to play one for a good month or so to decide if they are really for me or not. on one hand, they feel nice, but on the other hand they feel a little off, IME.

Hmm… Not sure what to think about that. I think Schecter has done Devil basses pretty good over the years, not sure Ampeg can hang with those.

Oh yeah, for sure. That was how I ordered my first guitar back in the early 90’s from carving, thru neck design, Koa Wood with maple and something else in the neck, with a rosewood fretboard, it was awesome.

Thats why I love my ESP LTD B-4E for the thru neck, and the amazing way it feels and plays too.
I almost always would prefer a thru neck to bolt on, but they are not as available, so I take what I can.

If I were to get a signature stingray of my very own, in my dreams one night, I would make it a thru neck stingray for sure.

That is sick,
What is it? Who made it?
love the woodwork and choice of woods used.

They certainly have. I’ve got one

Not a fan of Streamers?

They look exactly like Spector Euro’s with better headstocks

(That’s a Warwick Rockbass Streamer, just being sold by ESP in Osaka)

A nicer one:

That is one sexy Warwick thumb! To me this is the best colour/finish you can get on a Warwick. Yes, I’m jealous

No, not after having a Spector for a little while. I just could not just with that bass…
Felt weird.
But it was a Spector, not a Warwick, so IDK for sure, but I am not a fan of the profile of the upper horn mostly, and the rest of the body, something is just, off, IMO. Almost in an OCD way.

I played a few MIG corvettes, and a couple rock bass corvettes.

All MIG felt really well made, and there is a rugged feel to them, they do not feel cheap , but there is something that makes them off to me as well.

This may be the best way I can express what I feel in words.
They do not play like they feel or they do not feel like they play.
The feel is there, but the comfort of playing it is not all there.

BTW, I played two Rockbass Corvettes.
One was solid, almost as good as. MIG, but the other one I played, felt way different. Not solid, not well made.
The Spector I had did not feel solid or well made either.

I don’t hate them or anything, i just can do with or without them

That is sick. Is that a new one?
I thought he was Hartke now.
Or was he Hartke then Ashdown?
Cuz before Hartke I thought it was Ampeg.
I would have to watch his Rig Rundown to remember all the amp switches he has made again to be sure

Ashdown provided the rig for the Sabbath “the end” tour which I think was around 2016. The amps used were never sold comercially, they were just for Geezer.

As far as I can tell this head was released in 2018 as a more practical version for mere mortals.

So I think it was Laney > Ampeg > Hartke > Ashdown

I’m not sure what he’s playing currently, if anything.

Edit: I got curious and found this pic with deadland ritual. That looks like it’s still the Ashdown behind him (from the VU meters).

Oh yeah, for sure.
And his oh so beautiful signature Lakland P bass. The bridge is a dead give away, but I have seen some good YouTube videos on that and the pick ups and it is very impressive, some great detail in it if you look up close.

This video gives some good detail.
This is also the video where he talks about the DR Coated strings and how they save his fingers when playing live, cuz the coating wicks the sweat and he doesn’t get blisters when playing so hard to a crowd.

anyway, this is a fun watch if you are into any of it, and it gives some good shots of the bass IIRC.

BUT

Yeah, this was 2014 with Hartke I believe, so yeah, your timeline looks good

Great video Toby @T_dub ,
Might have to look for a Geezer signature :grimacing:

and it solved the mystery of how to best play Iron Man main riff.
He plays all shifts, no 1FPF bull there

He plays a fret, starting on B on the E string with his index backed by his middle finger, then shifts those two fingers up to the D on 4th fret of A string, and shifts those same fingers to the E on 7th of A string,
then quickly shifts his hand with Index on F# 4th fret of D string, and middle on the G 5th fret of the D string for the - GF# G F# G F# D + (back to A string for last note with middle finger) and shifts his hand down for ring finger backed by index finger on the final two E notes.

I can see why he does this too, look at him constantly bending the strings, for that natural vibrato, tremolo effect.

That may be the best video I have watched of Geezer Buttler just playing.
I certainly have not searched, but in most videos, he is in clips, and playing so aggressive and there is never a clear shot on both hands, let alone one.

I may see if there are any others that are better, but I won’t bog down the Bass Porn Thread with it.
I will get it back to the thread where we were discussing the Iron Man riff, and smartest / best fingerings to play it with.
We were all not doing it the Geezer way tho.
Actually, quick fix, I am playing it like that now.

I had the same thing really. Either you totally dig it or not. I sold my Warwick because I never took it up. Too bad because the quality was better than any of my other basses. I might get a new “metal” bass soon
