Let’s meet at the BFI Cafe at 2PM Sep 27 like @suemerry.trl suggested - looks like there’s actual enough room for a group of people to sit and chat and bit less tourist chaos. 
We can start there with coffee and then maybe grab some food there or elsewhere depending on desires!

I’d like to find a cafe that’s spacious enough for a little group to meet, anyone know one that’s not as tight n crammed as most Manhattan cafes? Not sure exactly where else we’ll be that day, somewhere in the rough ballpark of midtown, Chelsea, West Village, etc. would be fine.
Also anyone have time limitations? We could do early afternoon like 1 or 2PM, but could do a bit later (like before dinner ish) if anyone is coming from work.

May I make a suggestion?
My wife and I may be able to make it. We land at 1:00 pm. I’ll have to check this thread to see how things are going and whether you head somewhere for food, etc.
I have no time limits on that day. On a Wednesday afternoon, you may wish to consider McSorely’s Old Ale House, open since 1854, making it the oldest continuously operating bar in the US. Midweek afternoons and Sunday mornings are when it is most quiet. A traditional cafe that I love is the Merriweather Coffee + Kitchen on Hudson St. It’s only open until 5pm, though. Open to any suggestions from our NYC friends.

Hi Josh, I live just outside London, and currently have a free day on 27th. Hope we can arrange to meet up.
Sounds cool. Looks like it’s walkable from Waterloo tube. Not a part of London I’ve visited before for some reason - we have rarely made it south of the river. If my partner tags along, we may have a guitarist in our midst, I hope that’s ok?! 
If it had been Glasgow or Edinburgh I would probably have gone but London is a bit far for me to travel.

Denmark street is maybe my favourite place in the world. I go at least every other month. Hearing how it used to be better is baffling to me given how incredible it is right now. Obviously i believe you, my brain just doesn’t comprehend how it could get better.

I lived and drove in London for over 25 years so it’s not like I don’t know what I’m getting myself into. I thought it was bad when I lived by the lock in Camden on Jamestown Road but when I moved to Greenwich and had the whole ‘south of the river’ thing going on it was an absolute pain in the arse. Now I live in a little village in Derbyshire and given what the trains are like in this country I’m just gonna drive down and park behind the National where the TV studios are. I just can’t be bothered dealing with various changes and then having to get from Euston on the tube. Also it takes about the same amount of time, I won’t have to fight for a seat, and then spend 3 hours listening to somebody else’s shit music. I can listen to my own shit music instead 
Only problem is, because I don’t want to pay the congestion charge I’ll have to skirt the zone down past Angel and Shoreditch and then over Tower Bridge and head into town from the east. Still quicker than heading in from the west though.
Sorry. I seem to have strayed off into a rant there. Short answer: less hassle than the train from where I live.

I can’t remember all the shops that are gone, but as an example, there used to be a great shop on the corner with Charing Cross Road, whose windows was full of guitars. It’s long gone.
For basses, my “go to” is Andertons in Guildford. The bass room is great, plus they have more stock outside the room.
That’s Denmark Street. Famous street with loads of music shops. Bowie and Hendrix used to hang out there. I think the kinks and the sex pistols even recorded there too.
Sadly less music shops now but a great history.
Hahaha!!! Well thats fair enough then! I’m going in from Reading which is going to take an 1 hr 30 mins on the train to Waterloo as it stops at every station in between ( 3 times slower than into Paddington) but at least it is direct so not arsing around with the tube and people in general. AND got a steal on advance tickets £6.00 each way. That’s what I call a bargain!
