However, I think what you suggested here is really more what we would refer to as a “cover”, i.e., play an already established bassline to a tune, where the original bassline has been “removed”. And, we have a nice thread for that that @terb had established, here: Post your covers!
On the other hand, what we thought you had in mind here, was to provide some kind of (generic) backing track and then let people come up with their own basslines. We had tried this before a few times, as @Vik mentioned, but that could certainly be consolidated in a thread like yours here.
Anyway, it is your thread - your rules 
PS: by the way, when I say “we” I kinda assume I am talking for the majority here, which, really, I shouldn’t do…
