You can still use your fretting hand for muting combining it with palm muting, where necessary. Or not?
Correct. That’s why I said with picking you can’t use those methods.
Also correct. Fretting hand muting is really going to be your main go-to muting method with picking. It’s just much more limited options compared to finger plucking. IMO, it’s good to learn picking, as a lot of songs use it. But more importantly from a learning perspective, it really forces you to work on your fretting hand muting skills, which are super helpful no matter what plucking method you use.
That’s what I am about - there’s nothing bad in mastering both picking and finger-style plucking. Start with which one feels more natural and comfortable but don’t forget abour other one. That’s how I want to do
