Congratulations on your band and its momentum moving forward. I’d love to get a band started that does covers of older rock and pop tunes, but in a doom stoner rock style. Similar to Type O Negatives versions of America’s Summer Breeze and Neil Young’s Cinnamin Girl.

My favorite basses so far are the Spector NS Pulse and NS Pulse II. I’m a huge fan of Mike Starr and his tone. I can’t afford an American made Spector, but the Korean made Pulses are pretty damn awesome. I replaced the preamp with one similar to what Starr had in his Spector. It can sound as clean as a bell or dime the bass and treble knobs to get that Alice in Chains growl.

Yessir. I ordered a Epiphone and it took several months to arrive, but I absolutely love it. Lots of buyers remorse in the six month wait for it to show up! Most comfortable bass I’ve played so far. Neck dive is objectively average. More than my Schecter, less than my Yamaha had and some Fenders I’ve played. I’m glad I didn’t let the rumors scare me away. Range of tones available with LaBella black tapes is huge.

Oh yeah I think I have the same model but in black. Such a seriously cool bass. Excellent choice!

That’s awesome. But the tortoise pick guard breaks my heart

Thanks all for the nice advises and the many off-topics going on here without Josh noticing  I’ve made a top 4 list to look out for:

  • 5-string P Bass
  • Ricky (4 or 5 string)
  • A Spector Bass, the ones with PJ config (Thanks @shane7734 )
  • A good PJ bass in general (That Duff McKagan Signature still tingles my senses)
