I dont like most strings past there i dont know if i’ve ever actually played my B past the 7th fret except to see that “nope, i dont like that”
Yeah. Same goes for a 5 or a 6 really; if I want to go higher than the G string I will just use a guitar. The five extra notes on the low end are nice but Drop D is easy and gets you some nice range on a 4.
Even despite all that it’s the string spacing that really prevents me from gelling with them. I just did not like the 5’s I have tried, despite owning a nice one.
I don’t recognize the last word in this quote.
Some day i’ll get around to stringing my 5 string fretless as EADGC. I’m sure you’d love the 16.5mm string spacing
Hard no there, it’s like all my “do not wants” in one bass. Fretless, narrow spacing, C string, I would literally never pick up this instrument
I much prefer a BEAD 4 string over a fiver. But it all comes down to subjective stuff, doesn’t it?
You paid this amount for a bass and an amp?
Well, if you play songs that require a B and a G, that’s not subjective
Yep. P-bass with a fake maple top and matching 10w practice amp and cable. Fairly pretty bass that I would keep standard, but it will never be worth anything, so it’s getting two more pups, a heavier bridge, the headstock modified, etc. The make is Bluerock and I’ve never been able to find out anything about them other than an article on a Google search that I found once (& have never been able to find since) that stated that they were sold by Tanglewood as a budget brand. I’ve never been able to find anything since except the QC sticker on the back that shows it was checked by an H Lee in China. The fact that it had a QC check at all shows that it wasn’t the cheapest of the cheap, but unless I can find out any more about them it’s just another cheap Chinese P bass- despite the neck being nice, etc…
that’s true, but not many songs have B and G in the same song. Most you can play up a few frets on the D
Should correct that, I don’t see it much in the genres I play, some genres like jazz may have it, and I will concede that
I thought Jazz was just four blokes playing random tunes at the same time. Are you saying that there’s actually some structure to it?
Nope, just confessing my ignorance of jazz lol
Two bass greats meet for the first time ever at the NAMM Show…and play jazz. Cold.
The tune is the classic Caravan.
I’d give anything to be able to play one scintilla as well as either of these guys. Hope springs eternal.
Each to their own, Mike. I’m probably being ignorant, but I’d rather listen to anything other than jazz- cats coughing up furballs, for example.
Whatever works. But poetry in a foreign language might sound like gibberish to a non-speaker of said language, but poetry it remains.
Virtuosity speaks all languages.
Life would be pretty boring if we all liked the same things.
Yeah. Jazz isn’t my thing but I can appreciate the talent that goes in to it. I totally get why people love Hadrien Feraud.
There are so many subgenres of jazz that it’s kinda hard to dislike the complete genre. There is some serious awesome stuff out there!
Dixieland and experimental ain’t my kind of jazz tho
Yeah, I’m probably thinking of traditional jazz- 4 blokes playing a different tune at the same time sort of thing.
Is that the Vox AmPlug? I’ve got a couple of guitar ones and like them. If so, any reason you don’t use the aux in from the iPad and just the Bose earphones? You’d get better sound.
