well I do feel it. You can’t play swing and sing across the syncopation if you can’t feel it.

That’s Sinatra with Count Basie, Quincy Jones arranged and conducted the band. Real class! Get that taste from my Dad’s dad, a jazz organist toured the whole time Dad was a kid, played in a trio ala Jimmy Smith style, if anyone know who that is. Played rhythm left hand, lead solo right and played bass with his feet. Extraordinary!!
Oh and lastly, I wrote this bass line with Dad based the chords we looked up on UG, very crazy jazz chords, then picked 4 notes out of those chords for 4/4 1chord=1measure. We just picked the notes that really gave the quality of the chord, leaning on 3rds, 7ths, 9ths dim notes, chromatic runs, walks in the chord and as little as possible roots.

Ellen ugh. I won’t say anything since I can’t say anything nice. But I dont like funk, slapping, Primus, Maneskin, Muse, hiphop, rap Warning, any of the stuff the Kool Kids play. I ‘met’ her online and she was quite condescending. But I play fingerstyle with a pick, like Paul Macca, John Deacon, Chris Squire etc. Not a fan of Taj Winkendale, Mohiney Dey, Ellen Abvanlenstan. or w/e. I come from a different school, I think. Not as flashy, but more musical. Dave Paton, Leland Sklar, Mike Rutherford, Phil Lynott, Dee Murray, Bob Daisley, etc. I play stuff they scoff at like Partridge Family and Carpenters and Elton John and Wings. I don’t care, I go my own way. One of those girls (wont say who) said my repertore was ‘cringe old man Dad music’. So I accept that, I embrace it.

I wish I have a trademark. Good for you. Don’t give up on finger style. Push it through, you have the gift. I summon my inner Bobby Vega every time I use a pick,

you do have one. Just take the first 5 things you hear about your bass. Then the 2nd 7 things you notice. Then 5 more, comme ca (sung to the tune of Johnny Smith’s Moonlight in Vermont_:
