Change pickups on Marcus Miller V3 2d generation

A Heritage-3 is Sire’s own preamp. It is highly adjustable and very good. Sire uses this in its Marcus Miller active bass models, including all of their V models, so it doesn’t matter if you have a V3, V7 or a V8.

Here is a brief video demonstrating the Heritage-3 preamp settings and resulting tones. Pay particular attention to where the knobs are set per example.

There are two generations of Heritage-3 preamps. You have the newest. So do I: I own a Sire M5 and a V8.

Would have any info /doc on comparaison of those two ? I can’t find any . Do you know what’s different ?

No, I don’t.

Just be happy you have one, and use it in good health. Nothing else matters.

I understand, thank you

Replace your strings with fresh rounds and be sure your bass is properly set up.

Experiment with and practice different plucking techniques. See what effects you can get with different types of attack. Practice focusing hard on technique. Practice playing “wrong” and attacking your strings with raw emotion to the point everything sounds bad. Find the happy medium.

Begin playing with and experimenting with the different settings on your preamp.

Only then would I be looking at replacing your pickups unless they have an obvious issue: muted, distortion, dead spots, uneven volume, excessive hum, etc.

I understand, I will do that, thank you. I’ll keep you posted

Ok, so I changed strings when I came home. It changes everything !!. I cleaned and polished the frets also. I now hear a lot more . It’s all different. I’m just not a Big fan of the strings I put they’re very brillants, pop and I think more for slap playing (Ernie Ball ). I’ll get use to anyway. Forgot that strings needed to be changed that often. Another delicate subject of debat with my wife…
