Never say never. If you are nearby we could have die the bass karaoke on the hang out. I’m not a computer guy but I think we could figure out the way to stream high quality video with audio. That would be fun eh? A global hangout event.

It’s not strictly an effect but after the latest YT Video by Josh, I would say that the first thing to consider would be a pedal or a multi-effect with a decent ( = with the right frequencies) graphic EQ.
With that, you can make your instrument sound like (almost ) anything you want.

I could provide the technical knowhow and I would really like the chance to learn from you. There are some, ehm, many playing techniques where I could use some guidance…
You are the Mr. Miyagi of bass, after all

But I would only do that when I can play in a way that I do not feel totally embarrassed. 9 out of 10 times I s#ck. And this one time I think I don’t suck, I am not sure afterwards…

But when the time is right: I would be honored!!!

Christeen-san, I’m refreshing my recolection of the song you like. May be I’ll put it on the tab for you on a GP8. the body of the song is awesome it’s the dragging outtro that’s a chore, it’s a repeating pattern and I guess Pino didn’t want to just keep playing the same thing so he set the groove and just kept throwing in the fills.

We don’t play this song so much to it’s entirety just merge it into another song like a mini medley at wedding gigs.

Anytime you want to jam or video call let me know. I’ll make it happen. It’s best to do it when you are still new so many bad habits can be avoid. We have all been there and uncoordinated and we get better. A few weeks ago I asked this top pro to show me a few things on my guitar skills and he just gave me great tips and the more rookie mistakes I made the better tips I got.

After watching that video, I started to set up some specific patches for my Ibanez EHB1000S. These basses have a reputation for sounding thick and muddy - set the EQ bass flat, back off that very low end and tweak around 400hz, and boost a little higher up, and voilà, a tone that sounds far better!

Note, I’ve done this in a multi-effects pedal, rather than a separate.
