Course Revamped!

Hello All ,

A quick pat on the Ol Back here , just finished up with the new sections of our revamped course. Throughly enjoyed the new songs from Module 13 , the classic Josh Man phone number story , and all the walk up tunes as well. So Cool

What struck me was the journey. I completed the original course back in 2020 , joined a trio as a complete Noobie of a bass player , and have now “played” with three different bands. I am bringing this up because I am stoked with my own abilities that I really didn’t realize that I had developed over the years. Example: Chord Progression and Guitar Vamp made total sense while Josh Man was explaining the exercise during Module 15. Way Cool ! Another example that rocked my world happened during the EPIC FINAL JAM , I began exploring options before they were presented and reminded me of my options. Again , Way Cool ! Humble moment in time here , I would never claim to be the greatest bass player and would NEVER expect a band to insist that the band NEEDS me because I am so great. I definitely consider myself a rookie still but just a little bit more confident.

Now that my own horn has been tooted , I encourage everyone to engage with each other , share your own stories of your tall tales , and remind others that they WILL harness the skills to be a royal Bad A$$ Bass Player. Obviously , there are proper threads on this forum for encouraging others and sharing stories. This was just my nudge nudge to get the ball rolling.

This weekends plan is to challenge myself to the Beginner to BadA$$ Final Quiz , work over the finger exercises , and then dive into the BONUS Lesson Categories. Looking forward to experimenting with a pick , explore the slap/pop technique , and hopefully discover a new tune to present to the latest project that I am currently in. Hopefully

So in closing , thanx everyone! Long Live @PamPurrs , thank you @JoshFossgreen for a revamp , and thanx to everyone that has ever replied to one of my topics that I have posted over the years. All of you are amazing!

Stay Groovy Folks ,
Cheers

Yep I’m doing the same thing! I’ve been a bit slow, bought my bass and started the course in April of 2023 but I still haven’t made it through the whole thing yet (too many other hobbies competing for time), figured I’d start from scratch anyway and I’ve already learnt a few new tips.

I’m absolutely loving the new content, it’s so much clearer and the finger and fret highlighting are genius. Plus it’s great how much more humour there is in the new course as well!

We need bass buzz written across a banana. Yellow ink on brown fabric :star_struck:

OK, working from home because of flooded offices has motivated me to finish the last module and now I am officially a Badass (apparently).
I accidentally clicked the new format button so they were the new lessons.
As Con the fruiterer says " Doesn’ matter"

I’ll look at the Masterslasses, but I am keen to start again.
I might do it on the Obass this time as it has a wide string spacing, just to make it a bit harder

I’ve been signed off work due to some health /mental health issues, so decided to check out the new course. I had a peek at module 1, then decided to pick my bass up and play along. Damn, my technique needs work!
I love the new look, and I am going to continue over the next couple of weeks while at home and see how far I can get, hopefully correcting my mistakes as I go. Great job on the rework @JoshFossgreen

A good opportunity to take time for yourself and work on your bassplaying , hope you get better soon!

@JoshFossgreen - just curious… I’m guessing that changing “fast workout” to “full workout” was very intentional. Is that based on “fast” being a potentially intimidating word/idea for beginners?

The course navigation is vastly improved! Kudos for those changes!

@skydvr You captured my thinking exactly! Didn’t love how the word “fast” creates the unconscious feeling of “ooh this is gonna be hard”… because often just THINKING something is “fast” makes you play it poorly!

10 points to you / Griffindor, first person to catch that.

Can we rename “exercise”? I mean I’m a chubby guy and we’ll… Pizza :disguised_face:

Hello,

I am sorry but where can i find that slap video? I was in the middle of practicing slapping when changes happened and now I kind of cannot find it anywhere. :frowning: But i really want to continue with my progress.
Thanks for reply,
Marie <3

It’s in the masterclass portion. And that has to be unlocked… But it’s in the “Bonus Lessons” - scroll all the way down on the main “Modules” screen…

If you want to go back to the old version of the course, here’s the link. From there you can finish the original slap module.

Thanks SO MUCH for thinking of the long-suffering color-blind bassist! I came so close to commenting about the difficulty some of us have with red/green but you read my mind (or got constructive feedback from others.) Attempting to follow that portion of the lesson was so frustrating that I was often tempted to skip it.

Yes, it was such a relief to finally fix that. Got that feedback for the first time maybe 8 years ago or so and thought ‘ohhh… crap.’
