Do you have tinnitus or other hearing loss?

Ive got a pair of the A30s, I had the Bose sleepbuds before that. They’re godsends. Like Devilcrayon, I also do sound while I work whenever I’m not in a meeting (same reasoning on both counts). I tend to walk around all day with my airpods in adaptive mode so I can just talk to folks.

In my case it was just one concert with SLAYER & Gojira that gave me permanent ringing

If you have purchased them before December 2025 - get them replaced, if you have battery issues (for example less than 7-8 hours in Bluetooth mode).
Anker/Soundcore have silently upgraded the battery, and it’s much better now…

I just got mine after xmas. I’m not sure if I got a goid batch or a bad batch. So far they’re lasting all night.

Me too :frowning:

I currently take 5 (!) pills across three prescriptions every night just to sleep.

Just magnesium, melatonin, and valerian for me and I maybe get 4 hours a night if I’m doing good.

One of the miracles of my life is, that at 60, I still have good hearing. I not only went to many shows in my teens and years later, but spent about 15 years with F-16s screaming in my ears. The earlier F-16s with the smaller inlets were the loudest, at a time when ear protection was the slackest. A miracle indeed.
I want to look into something though before I start performing with drummers (if that ever happens).

Whut??

Jokes aside, I also have another proverbially loud hobby. Hearing protection is a must. And knock on wood, at 52, I’m still good, despite some stupidity in youth (headbanging right up next to a speaker and so forth).

This helped me tremendously. Some days will pass by with out much notice and then I might have to do it again. But the relief for me was a godsend. It’s simple and giving it a try wouldn’t hurt.

If you have trouble sleeping, try one of these audio files: Waves Ionic Sea

The difference between the tracks is whether the waves are more centered or not. I use the 70 version, which is more centered. The 100 is more left/right.

In contrast to the built-in wave Soundcore A30 wave sounds, these sounds use a “cradle” effect, going from left to right and back. Also it does not have a lot of very high frequencies, nor rumbling low frequencies - which would keep me awake.

I play it in an endless loop with a soft crossfade, so there are no hard cuts (which would keep me awake).

Works perfectly! I could reduce melatonin quite a lot and my sleep quality has improved substantially.

I hope it can do the same for you … just try it!

When I was a kid, we rented a beach House in North Carolina for a week almost every summer. My brother and I shared a room at the back of the house facing the ocean. The windows were always open and that was what every night sounded like! Now, I live about 7 miles from the ocean and all I hear is the cicadas in my ears or motorcycles street racing.

I lived in Brighton, directly at the sea front, and can relate to that. My windows were always open, and the sound of waves soothes me.
Also, living at the beach is simply great … my work place (EPIC games) was also near the beach, so I could skate, walk or bike along the seafront and always had a magificent sight … and sounds.

Now I live in Hamburg and all I hear is the shouting of fighting/f#cking people or highly motorized car street racing (I live near the red light district, so a lot of young dudes need to show their “power” :-)).

That sucks to hear Howard. Especially if you need medication… I have something similar like @Whying_Dutchman. In my case it is mainly my right ear and it feels like a mix of stress and tinnutis that mess up my sleep. I am especially aware of other sounds during my “light” sleep period.

White noise and earplugs do help a bit in my case. And I really need to stay away of using cotton swabs in my ears (if they are itching like mad).

Try the Sleepbuds A30 - and get the “special” version. They are cheaper and much better than the old A30!

If I were you I would only use “nature” sounds, so no white noise etc.

Reason: when you sleep, your subconsciousness listens to noises that evoke “fight or flight” stress. So, non-natural noises (even music, unfortunately) are perceived as potentially threatening, which increases stress. That causes you to wake up or have bad sleep quality. Not good!

Also, mono sound is not helpfull, as it really centers in your brain, which makes you focus. Focussing is stress!
Ambient noises that are “wavy” make you feel like you’re a baby in a cradle.
And let’s be honest: there’s no feeling that’s more safe

Also good if your partner snores as it has a noise cancelling feature and a specific snore feature

Thanks for the tips! When I use my airpods, I usually listen to rain.
Do you mean the Soundcore Sleep A30 that go for 250 euros? The name Sleepbuds seems to be from Ozlo.

Yeah - but the SPECIAL version, NOT the regular version!!!

I looked up those A30s Specials. My thoughts are, is that they may block out the sounds of a home invasion. Is there a setting for the noise cancelation threshold?

I wish they would - all those home invasions here really get on my nerves and keep me from sleeping. At least a proper home invasion now and then makes me forget about the sexy snoring of my girlfriend

The a30 noise cancelling is more a marketing statement than reality, at least in the non-special version.
Even with the special version, I don’t expect miracles. Maybe a little less ambient street noise. The masking sounds help though. You just need to find the ones that fits your profile…

Also, here in good old Europe you have 30 days to test them. Soundcore is very customer friendly, so: just test them and send them back if you don’t like it….

ANC on the latest apple AirPods is pretty darn good blocking out most noises.
