I played a crap ton of guitar hero and rock band in college, but somehow did not vibe with Rocksmith at all. I’m not sure what that says about me.
If you played Guitare hero, it means you were not adult enough fdor Rocksmith 
(In Rocksmith you can use a real bass!)
I tried Rocksmith. It didn’t do it for me, I don’t really know why.

I guess it is not for everyone. I played Wipeout a lot. Rocksmith is like Wipeot for Bass
As a huge Metallica fan, I have scoured their library for the more beginner friendly stuff. Agree with already posted stuff, here is my list:

To Live is to Die (a little tougher, but manageable with some repetition)
Halo on Fire (same as above, mostly easy but a few tricky segments some repetition will help sort out)
