If there is a single, overarching requirement for playing an instrument, any instrument, it is to love doing it. To love trying to know it better , whether by leaps and bounds - or by baby steps. Because regardless of the lengths of our strides, we get ever closer to doing what we love.

I don’t know a lot of songs. I know some riffs, sure. But a lot of my enjoyment in playing is just… playing. Sometimes I set out to practice something specific, sometimes I don’t. I’ll just play what comes to me and lose myself in it for a while.

I can’t remember whole songs. Can’t reality remember anything until it’s on a screen in front of me. I’ve learned a Ton of riffs, and a bunch of songs. Way i figure it, it isn’t critical. I don’t do this so i can keep score. I Just love making the room shake.

It’s a journey, nothing to worry over. You stopped and saw the sights, that’s part of the journey too because it’s supposed to be a fun journey.

I’m “behind” on three other courses and two books now

I’ve got other courses in various stages of completion. It’s all good. Everything’s going into the gumbo. And I’m powerful hungry.
