Thanks for asking !

we survived

A few songs were good, some were OK, a few were disastrous but our drummer / singer covered the mess by his excellent performance !

All in all a great time and a lot of fun for our friends …but I don’t promise we’ll do it next year for my 50 birthday

will share more details later

So all in all good fun.

The list of sings was as planned.

WWW (What Went Well)

  • We made it to the gig with no family drama, my 4 sons have strong characters and we manage to work together for several hours without clashes and as a band we have shared a great time
  • We can go through a list of songs without our teacher in the middle helping us recover from misses
  • My wife was absolutely happy, she keeps on reviewing the videos from the event and wanted to share all songs to her friends (the great, the good … and the ugly)
  • Great #3 - Singer and drummer - outstanding performance on drums and great vocals (people were asking if he was taking lessons) . Even if I’m a bass player I can testify a great vocalist and drummer can make it rock !
  • Lovely #4 - Sax - my youngest son (8 yo) had a lot of girls from his age that felt completely in love and wanted to stay as close as possible to him during the whole show
  • Overall great energy from the crowd, lot of my cousins were with us and most of them really like having fun - We owe them a large share of the success
  • We enjoyed it and the oldest 2 sons are determined to come to our Sunday music lesson more often and are creating set list of songs they want to learn as a group
  • So fun to have great equipement (what we rented was great quality and great fun), I have never felt my bass this way (same applies to people leaving >500m away from our garden  )
  • First experience of a gig with lot of things to organize and a lot of learnings
  • Lights - we bought a few very cheap amazon lights and the outcome was really great
  • Weather was absolutely perfect ! this was a bet as the date was set a chile back
  • Police didn’t show up to ruin the party

EBI (Even Better If)

  • Transitions - we were not 100% ready (to say the least) to move from one song to another (I won’t finger point anyone but some were more ready than others  )
  • Overall balance of sound - It was great during rehearsal but we modified a few things by accident - the song was too loud, the bass was too low (of course), the sax was too low… and we had low volume for our “return speaker” not helping us
  • Recording - we have iphone videos but they don’t give credits to the singer who was praised by the crowd - we should have tried to do something better for this event
  • Tune - Some issues in some songs were our guitarist was a little off in tempo and notes but nothing really problematic

Thank you all for your support !

  • Hey Jude
  • Please come home for Christmas
  • Baby can I hold you
  • Begin’
  • Zombie
