Fix Your Plucking in 5 Minutes

Stumbling on your fingers and plucking the wrong strings sucks - here’s how to fix it in 5 minutes.

Cuz once you get your basic plucking technique down and start trying more adventurous bass lines, you’ll run into the NEXT big problem - actually getting your plucking fingers to keep up.

Especially when improvising, this can turn your super cool ideas into sloppy soup. Sad face.

Luckily, this common plucking problem can be solved by the simple string crossing exercises I show Obe in this lesson.

Thanks so much to Obe for being THE MAN! You can check out his super rad organization and band Zero Reasons, which brings together music with mental health awareness and support - https://zeroreasons.org/

Where was that event held?

That was the big NAMM show that happens in Anaheim CA every January. I’ve gone the last couple years and it’s turned out to be a really sweet way to meet BassBuzzers in the wild.

That’s when we had the super-rad “BassBuzz Meetup with Josh at @Al1885’s Restaurant”™.

Great vid thanks Josh, I’m going to incorporate this into my practice. He had a great tone, did the trickfish rig and a compressor help?

The tone you’re hearing was direct into my interface for the most part! Just that bass into some of my usual post production I do for my Youtube bass tone.

It was such an honor to be apart of this training session with you, Josh!

I’ve taken the time to really practice my plucking and string-crossing skills, and I’m happy to report that I’ve improved so much since then. Now, my playing no longer sounds like sloppy soup! :joy:

I’ve still got a lot to learn, but I’m excited to continue to learn and practice my technique now equipped with the B2B course. Hopefully, I’ll finally be able to tackle the hardest songs out there (like ANYTHING from Jaco Pastorius :anxious_face_with_sweat:) , or maybe write one just like it!

Many thanks to Josh and his team, you guys RAWK!
(and remember, there are zero reasons not to be yourself!)
