Flat wound vs round wound strings

These are the original gauge (heavy) flats used by Jamerson and the like back when. I had them in my ‘61P for that reason. Took em off. They are a thing of their own but become a bit of a one trick pony, and I find the regular flats are my go to on all my basses with flats, with the exception of the low tension on my Ricky (due to old neck design issues). All are great, all have their place.

I don’t know what the “M” stands for… “Macho”? “Mad”? “Monstrous”?

They’re not even part of the “regular” line of 760 strings :slight_smile:

760FX = extra-light
760FL = light
760FS = standard
760FM = medium
0760M = the ‘Jamerson’ set
