You can go a really long way just memorizing EGABC#/Db, ACDEF#/Gb, DFGAB, GA#/BbCDE - the open strings and dots up to the octave (which is just the open strings again). Then just fill in the other notes as one-offs.
The octave pattern (over 2, up 2) helps too.

I did it slightly different… having fret markers in the middle spaces. And boxing the important notes to remember.
