Fret Wraps?

What are they all about?

They’re for muting. There was a great deal of talk about them in another thread, but I can’t recall which one. Do a search on the term and you may find it.

Thanks for posting that Jazz, the article answered some questions for me. Josh was showing mostly fret fingers muting, but he also pointed out that the string fingers could be used for muting as well. I am practicing with the fret fingers now, since I have used my string fingers to mute in the past.

They’re useful for a lot of things!

  • Cleaning up sympathetic vibration for sensitive passage like tapping, etc.
  • Doing cool/weird stuff where you stick the wrap between your fretting hand and your plucking hand to get weird tones
  • Covering up bad muting technique (NOT AN APPROPRIATE USE!!!)*
