GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 1)

Yeah was eyeballing it for a while too…it has two of the important processing tools for bass: an (optical) comp and a shaping EQ together in a four knob pedal
Im using it with other comps and pedals, but I think it would be great even by itself or at the end of a small pedal board just to ‘professionalize’ the sound

I was going to order from their website but I got it from a dealer who had a slightly better black Friday special going

So I got my first fretless today, a Harley Benton jazz bass clone. It needs a setup and better strings, but at this price point I can’t really argue about that. I like the look and finish, but it weighs a ton

Looks great!
With cheap basses comes heavy wood, just how it normally goes.
HBs are all around great buys, and you can always upgrade the pickups if you want to improve sound over time.

Fretless is a blast to play. You’re going to enjoy it once you get over the initial hurdles/learning curve.

I’m actually pleasantly surprised with the fit and finish. It requires better strings and a proper setup, but I expected this, the price has to come from somewhere, and this is an easy fix.

If ever it comes a time where I actually like the factory strings, my heart probably wouldn’t be able to take the shock and it would be the end of.

My new Sire V8 came with new D’Addario rounds, even in tune. I’ve played the hell out of 'em and they still sound great. Mileage varies.

What are the Mayones basses strung with?

Most often, these:

My dealer threw a set of Ernie Ball Super Slinkys in the case, too. Haven’t used them, though.

My Does It Doom Pedal came in a couple days ago. I’ve been out of town so I haven’t been able to play with it.

Hasn’t happened yet for me.

Yamaha’s factory strings (D’Addario EXL) happen to be my second favorite strings so that’s all good.

Fender Japan appears to be using Fender strings made by D’Addario that are not bad at all.

Warwick, OTOH - looooooool no, Warwick Reds are among the worst strings I have ever used.

That’a almost an insult… to put run-of-the-mill strings together with a Mayones

Dude! I know! I was like WTF, man?

I don’t mind him trying to palm off some swag, though. You gotta do what you gotta do.

You noticed I haven’t used them.

@wellbi I hope you realize I totally blame you for this

@John_E you would be proud, its’s a limited edition color, apparently only 100 sold in Japan. Transparent like a Hasbro kids toy, totally adorable.

And one of the harshest, most industrial synths you can buy. I am in lurve

Looking for an Alien Alien cover with synths, bass, and Hatsune Miku vocaloids now

For the minimalist of our little forum you sure have moved a lot of gear this past year. :upside_down_face:

Maybe I rubbed off on you

It’s so true.

Sold two basses and two guitars, bought two basses and three hardware synths.

it’s adorable

The sound is just as brutish as I had hoped. Very cool and unique filter.
