GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 2)

Personally I really liked my Carl Martin Optocomp but it doesn’t have all of the controls I usually like. FTR, I look at the Becos Stella CompIQ image that @TheMaartian posted and it’s perfect for controls - I consider everything on it except the EQ and Filter to be table stakes for compression. At minimum the things I look for for controls:

Ratio
Threshold
Attack/Release
Makeup Gain
Mix/Blend
Compression/Level meter

or equivalents.

I’ve been a little more impressed by Joyo even though my pedal failed.

There is a way to “upgrade” my Joyo to the pedal it’s supposed to clone, I might give that a shot before chucking it.

@MattyD

I just remembered I’ve got a Joyo compressor pedal in the bottom of a cabinet. I’ve got the Cali76 so this is not being used.

Cover the postage from Canada and I’ll give it to you for free. :canada:

About $100 ought to cover it :joy:

I’ll send you a private message (lookout for the green envelope icon) and you can send me your address.

I’m flying to Japan on Tuesday so I should be able to post it before I leave

Make sure to buy some Tokyo Bananas at Narita. Just… TMOT.

They are basically only available at airports. I have never seen them outside of an airport except as a gift from someone going through an airport. I do not think they exist in nature.

I bought four boxes when I left last month. All gone now.

Hahaha awesome.

They are basically the best possible form of a Hostess Twinkie.

Just showed my wife the link @howard she’s on board

Like I said they are shameless copies of Boss counterpart for 1/4 of the price and made out of plastic instead of metal.

Yep this is Uli’s business model in a nutshell. Right now he is really controversial in the synth space because his synth division is completely crushing it and often the clones they release are even higher quality than the originals, for 10% of the price. Moog and others are pissed off.

I have owned two Behringer hardware synth clones and frankly they were as solid as my Arturia.

I have a Crave that is pretty cool but I like my mono synth pedal much more

Well… those are for quite different purposes

I had a Pro-1 and a Kobol Expander, both were outstanding.

You’re welcome

PS: perhaps Tokyo isn’t a major city?

Yeah more of a gas and burger stop at most really.

I’m guessing they became available at some of the duty free tourist trap stores around town.

 A very nice one, though!

Hey @MattyD

Just back from the post office and my old (new) compressor is on it’s way to you.

Google maps says it’s 2600 miles, so factor in Canada Post and the border I’d say by the time it arrives it’ll make a lovely Xmas present to yourself

Man I didn’t know you were so close!
