Hi about 8 months ago i was about half through my courses and we’ll say life threw a curve ball and i was unavailable to continue. I am now able to get back into it, now should i start from lesson 1 as a refresh or continue where i ledt off? Just asking for opinions lol
Hi there!
My answer would be to try to continue where you left and to go over some basics, too. Perhaps start with the older stuff, warm up with it and then try the “leftovers”
In the course extras, there is also the Final Quiz, which lists Module 4 Lesson 5: Put All Those Strings Together! as the first test of your ability.
Have a look at the lesson, see if you can do the workouts and then you should be good to continue.
Cheers,
Antonio
PS: I once told a teacher “I aced the test, so I practiced too much!” He said, “you can never practice too much.” While that may be true, you can definitely waste your time practising mindlessly. Make a choice that feels good for you now.
Thx ill definitely try that
IMHO start back at square one.
This will reinforce what you already know and you should be caught up to where you left off in no time.
Same thing happened to me; I just went on from where I had left off. Now, I kinda wish I’d have gone back to square one. Or at least done a review of the previous lessons… maybe just the exercises at the end or summat.
It’s not like it’s going to hurt you to go back and look at the stuff you’d finished before.
True like you said cant hurt to start from the beginning
What @Celticstar said…
Definately start again.
The early lessons are both easy and invaluable, because they stress and reinforce the fundamentals
Start from Lesson 1 and breeze through all the following lessons, nailing the fast workouts before moving on. If you find a fast workout you can’t nail cleanly, practice it a bit to see if you can do it. If you can, great; if you can’t, make note of it as something to revisit, and move on to the next lesson.
No practice is ever wasted, especially fundamentals, which are essential for playing anything cleanly and well.
Lastly, take to heart that playing an instrument is a journey, not a destination. Take the time and effort you need to learn and practice. There’s no one standing over you with a stopwatch. Take it easy, don’t stress, and enjoy the work that lets you play.
