Guess What I Bought

I just ordered a Kala Surf-blue solid body Ubass. 23.5 inch scale. It should be arriving at the music store sometime next week. I can hardly wait. I also ordered La Bella Flat-wound strings to go with it. In the meantime I’m practicing with my mahogany hollow body Ubass. My practice amp is a Phil Jones “Big Head”. I love it. I am just starting module 4 of Josh’s course.

I guessed wrong, but excellent choice!

Is that La Bella Flat scaled for 23.5”-ish? It might not work or sound the same. If you must have flats on look into Dogal, their Flats are not going to be cheap but it would sound like your normal flat wound. I put rounds on mine. I have 2 in that scale length and @TheMaartian probably has a dozen, :joy:

FYI @Eliezer Kala sell their own flats. Which I use and they’re good.

LOL. Nope, 3, a 27” Valiant Mini jazz bass and two 17” Mayones Cali basses, one 4 and one 5 string. I have custom length Pyramid Gold flats on the Valiant.

Gallistrings from Italy are excellent! I have a set of their short scale tapewounds on my custom Lignum Spring fretless. They sound and play fantastic!

That’s awesome! I’ve pretty much decided that a Kala U-Bass is going to be my second bass at some point. I’m eyeing the exotic mahogany with the rubber (silicone?) strings.
