Guitars: removing sticker/UV stains from Guitar body & other questions

The uncle of my girlfriend died a few years ago, and now his wife is ready to sell all his stuff. I was asked to take care of that, as they saw me playing “a guitar”
He was an avid guitar player, so now I have three guitars, some amps, a lot of pedals and some other stuff here.

I have three questions:

  • how can I remove stains that are probably caused by darkening by UV light around a f#cking stricker or pick holder?
  • How can I identify a guitar and what components are not original? What’s the worth of a load of guitar strings, most are either as new or unused?

One guitar seems to be a Korean built Ibanez RG450DX WH (White) with an unusual serial# (c417107), probably from ‘94/’96. I can see some mods (nut? pickups)
The other one is a beautiful Gretsch G3156 Historic Series with a Bigsby B6G Gold. It’s also Korean, probalbly built in 1999/2003.

These are the stains:

These are the strings I got with it:

Looks like it’s a sign that you should start to learn guitar!!

I’ll send the guitar by email, ok? Is your email address still “G’day@mate.au”?

Especially the Gretsch looks and sounds very very good (except for the stains).
I tried to pump the Gretsch up with the funny golden lever below, but that seems to be defective

But: I will never learn guitar as I’m quite happy with writing/producing my own little ditties … and noodle around with my beloved bass.

Still: how to resolve the stain issue?

Yeah low pressure can be a problem with hollowbody guitars

Lots of elbow grease and turtle wax compound would probably remove the stain. You will end up doing the whole guitar as the sticker shows the original finish. The rest of the body faded and may or may not come clean to match. Personally I would leave them alone.

Okay, I just spoke with CYAN Guitars here in Hamburg. My go-to, no-nonsense luthier.

He said the problem is unsolvable. UV “spots” cannot be removed…

Oh well—less effort for me. I’m selling the damn six-string “as is” now…
