How did it do?

So most of you showed your new bass. But how did it really do ? Do you love it, do you hate it, did you regreat it, or did it become your one and only ? Tell the truth  would love to hear it.

[grid] So back in the end of 21 i finally got this bass from Sandberg. A California TT4 in hardcore aged masterpiece in Orange. I was a little nervous about the color.
I loved if from the moment i opened the bag and took the bass out. So how did it do ?
I absolutely love this bass and i have played i almost every dag since. I still love the color and the way it sounds and plays, and it is now my only bass
I only changed the strings and and made a minor change to the Active/passive mode by reversing the knob so it allways is in passive mode and i have to pull the knob out to go in active mode.
Lets hear your stories :metal:

I love this post, I’m actually having a bass identity crisis as we speak.

I started off with a Squire Affinity P Bass but I felt like I was fighting the instrument every time I touched it. It was heavy and my small hands struggled on the fret board. Traded it to a friend for an electronic drum kit. Next.

Then I discovered short scales and became a Gretsch Jr Jet fanboy. So much so that I bought a second in a limited run color. But as I’m progressing I’m finding the body to be too small. I love the 30 inch scale, something I definitely want to stick with, but the bass lately just feels toy-like.

So I’m considering selling the Gretsch as I find myself gravitating towards my Harley Benton HB 60 semi hollow because the large body actually makes it much more comfortable for me to play. Side note, I’m 6 feet tall with a +1.3 ape index for my fellow climbers out there.

TLDR: Hated my Squire P bass, don’t love my Gretsch Jr Jets, Harley Benton HB 60 WB is becoming my daily driver.

i had a dream bass since forever ago, a firemist gold single H bongo.

i finally found a new old stock one on reverb from britain and bought it. paid full price for it. when i got it, i opened the case and thought… that’s… not right? the color was not the same as i had seen in a thousand pictures of it. turns out it’s one of those colors you can’t really capture very well in photos. so i kind of faced a dilemma. do i love it? do i not love it? do i try to convince myself i love it when maybe i don’t? it played great and sounded great, no problems there. and i actually just went for option 3, convince yourself you love it. which i did, i just had to get used to the fact that it wasn’t exactly like i thought it was. and it’s still my dream bass.

Got this stingray last summer and love it!
But it was not without it’s issues
The gears on the tuners were made of chocolate and wore out very soon, later read on the forums that was a common issue on these basses , totally unacceptable on a 1100€ bass :rage:
I could have returned it but I was so in love with the colour and at the time ray 34’s in a nice colour are (and still are) hard to find
The neck felt fantastic so I wanted to keep it . Everything else was fine on this bass.
Could have gone the warranty way and ask for new tuners but I would end up with the same crappy ones.
So I replaced them with the stock MIM p bass tuners that I had laying around , they are highway one tuners and a one on one fit
The tuning pegs on those are a bit shorter but that makes for a better break angle on the nut.
Also got a new string tree because the standard one had grooves in it to guide the string , but at a weird distance

I started playing a year ago now. I’ve owned 8 basses total, currently have 6 (hopefully picking up #6 today, my first 5er). I don’t regret a single one. Even the ones I’ve sold on. They’ve all in one way or another helped me figure out what I like as far as feel and fit. If I could only save one from a fire, that’d be my 734. It took a few days to get used to the active preamp, but that neck felt so good in my hand from the moment I strapped it on. The 5 string is a BB 435, and I only downgraded because I’ve never played a 5 before. If I like it, I don’t doubt that I’ll be GAS’ing for the 735 eventually.

The song I’m working hard on right now has a lot of horizontal movement across the fretboard, and that slim neck profile is like butter. Oh, for the 5, I picked up a set of stainless rounds.
