@wheelcowboy I hope you’re feeling well these days and are able to enjoy B2B lessons and practicing.

Sorry @wheelcowboy @MikeC but one of the many reasons I love this forum / community is the random side paths that threads go to. Some of it is really interesting.
Once you get to know the various people on here it’ll make sense.

I was actually going to remark something similar. You may ask how to adjust the intonation on a bass and end up talking about the best taco’s in your home town within the same thread. Part of the charm of this forum.

And you get the beauties like the whiskey thread

I try to do something musical each day, by purpose, to ensure my brain is engaged in musical thinking irregardless of other distractions of life. Simply listening to music counts as practice, and sometimes you learn things on accident without knowing it. Watching people play on YouTube counts two, as well as focusing on you’re own practice sessions with your bass and a lesson in front of you.

I spent some time in Songsterr yesterday listening to bass lines by the Warning to see if there’s any I wanted to learn, or thought I could.

Most of them involve a 5 string, which is when I made the decision to take my MDB5 BEAD

But I also noticed the same progression in half a dozen songs. Gives me an insight into Ale as a bassist

Not uncommon for me to spend a couple hours on Sunday listening to bass lines in Songsterr or YouTube

Practice? Advancing the craft for sure

Just play some songs by ABBA

@wheelcowboy , i get where you are at with that. While serious questions are always addressed, many of us ( myself included ) have a sense of humor that may seen pretty far out of whack to some.

That’s actually one of the (many) really bright spots of the forum. It’s a good place to maybe let off the pressure for a moment and remember what’s most important-we’re all here because we love music.

But that’s exactly the issue. I love music. I love playing music, listening to musicand learning about music. And speaking strictly for myself, i can get obsessed with minutiae-having a way to re-evaluate how I’m looking at things is good.

Plus you May find out where to get great sushi, or a really good deal on strings

I’d say I practice about 10-30 minutes a day.
Unless I’m working towards a gig/session/project. Then it’s more.

I try to practice every day, maybe 30 to 60 minutes, but sometimes I miss a day during the weekend. Now if I could stick to only one instrument…

I don’t have a routine as far as scheduling. If I miss a day I don’t lose sleep over it. But I do enjoy the time in my music room when I get there.

Now that the weather is gonna get colder I’ll find more time available. Less outdoor stuff to do around the house ya know.

Daily, but that’s a combination of the B2B lessons and many rounds of Another Brick in the Wall and some slowed down ZZ Top Gimme All Your Lovin’. I’ve just finished the 12 bar blues lesson, so I’m going to incorporate that in to practice too, along with finger exercises from Josh’s bass finger exercises video on YT. All up, I average about two hours a day with most of that being B2B and repeating workouts.

Minimum 2 hours a day, 3 hours average. And mostly late in the evening. Sometimes (when I have more time for myself) it is longer, even much longer. Maybe a few times a month I miss a day.
I must admit that it has become a “duty” for me and sometimes I have to force myself, because according to the “schedule” it is exercise time. However, once I start and get hooked, I lose track of time. And then I can’t sleep

No, it’s a “moo point”. Eggcorn’s are hilarious! Anyone else listen to Word Matters on NPR?

Whenever I have had enough of all the garbage, hate, stupidity, ego, narcissism, and selfishness in this world………I plug in, crank up the amp, sprinkle in a little chorus and delay, let my mind go, let the Spirit guide my fingers, and “enter in” to my own utopia. Needless to say, this current negative world environment has me reaching for my bass many, many times during a week.
