How can I recreate the tone of the bass on this song? I’ve tried fiddling around with the active eq on my bass and using some digital pedals but I can’t seem to get very close. Also any tips on recreating tones just in general? I’ve been playing around with the knobs but still can’t really get close to anything lol
You can use ai, tell it what your trying to do, what your gear is and try that.
Also you can ask how and what gear was originally used.
Or get a Boss Katana bass amp and have more tone options than you can likely imagine. 
What kind of pedals and bass are you using right now?
The things you’d need for this are:
Bright, round wound strings played with a pick.
An Ampeg SVT model would be good
A bass that has a big, bright, attack-y sound (a J bass with both pickups on, a music man, any modern 2 pickup bass)
And then maybe start massaging in some effects to see if you can get closer.
I can’t totally tell from the recording (which I love - I’m a huge anime fan and a Pillows fan in particular - this has good Pillows vibes) what the exact tone is, but hopefully the above tips will get closer than you are.
