Hybrid covering, two instruments into one

Currently working on “As You Said” by Jack Bruce (Cream), but there are no bass tabs that I can find anywhere, maybe because a cello is being used, I have found tabs for the cello but that’s of little help, and that’s not used thru the whole song anyway, so I’m having to come up with my own translation onto my bass, as well as combining that cello with the bass notes being played on a standard 6 string, so it will end up being a hybrid between the two. It’s going to sound great, I swear, once I have it all figured out.

Has anyone else tried that song, or have done something similar? I’d like to hear about it.

I googled ‘As you said bass tab” and the Cream version is on Songsterr

I’ve seen that, but it’s for the cello (which is a bass of sorts) which doesn’t play consistently all the way thru the song. I wanted more than that.

No it isn’t.

Yeah very few similarities beyond octave range

“of sorts”, I’m not a purist, never have been.

No. Unless you would say that a hammer is a screwdriver “of sorts”.

Have a nice evening.

Keep it up. You are creating something to enjoy so don’t let the comments get you down.

Funny story: When I was doing the plumbing in a client’s kitchen remodel, she had some jazz playing and she told me she played the cello. I said wind instruments were always calming to me. She enlightened me and had a good laugh. She is a record holding runner very easy on the eyes and a world class cellist. Sarah Lawson is her name.

As my dad used to say “kill them with kindness”
