I left my first negative feedback

I don’t think that’s true, these are not mutually exclusive. I can like the instrument, but be unhappy over the false advertisement of the condition.

It was sold on Reverb using the Reverb condition of “Brand New” which directly states it will include all original packaging. It did not.

That’s my issue: the listing specifically said X, and I did not get X. I don’t quite understand why you’re taking issue with that

Because the listing said it would include all original packaging. I bought it on the expectation that it would include all original packaging. It did not include alI original packaging.

Of course the seller can tell me to pound sand. They’ve already apologized, guaranteed it is a new instrument, and offered me a full refund. But then I have to ship it back, wait for the refund, buy another, and wait for it to be shipped.

The seller has an over 18,000 feedback level on Reverb. I don’t think there’s something untoward going on here, I think they just fucked up the packing and thought it wouldn’t an issue, I think that they’re thinking like you are: “the instrument is brand new, so it doesn’t matter that the listing said it would include original packaging”

All that said, since the instrument is good, if I can get a partial credit, I think that’ll be fine. If they say no, then I’ll either go forward with the refund or not… I’ll have to think about that.

No, it didn’t come in two pieces, apologies if that was unclear.

Instead of wrapping it, the body was slid into one of the smaller UPS boxes, and the headstock/neck was slid into the other smaller UPS boxes. There was a little bit of packing in each of the UPS boxes. Then that whole thing - the bass with a UPS box over its body and headstock/neck - was slid into the one box in which it was shipped.

Here’s a recreation of what was in the main box:

I bitched about my bass to the seller on reverb and ended up with a nice partial refund with reverb mediating. It is pretty dinged up but I love how it plays and feels. If it could talk, I would have it on the couch telling me all the terrible things that happened to it and what was seen in various places it had been. I was planning on getting it refinished but the expense is not worth it.

Buyer beware is all I can say.

some sort of ‘my bad’ partial credit is the good faith thing to do here.

My guess is is that this is a copy/paste error, as he has many listings and this happens. Chaning my mind to nothing nafarious, however, anyone that ships a bass without some sort of soft cushioning packaging is a knucklehead.

Agreed.

I can’t… I don’t understand the thought process that went into packing this bass as it was packed. Maybe a new employee or something? I dunno. Very knucklehead-ish.

Especially for a Reverb seller with an over 18,000 feedback rating.

They’ll come. I just need to get past the “are they going to give me a credit? if not am I going to return it and get another?” phase. Aside of sleep and forum posts I’ve been playing it pretty much non-stop since it got here. I have fallen in love with the Spector ergonomics, and the Aguilar pickups/preamp/EQ are a new sound for me… I’ve never had them before. It’s a nice instrument.

I’ve seen the box thing done but with soft packaging.

Definatelly GHETTO, and that is NOT a good thing!

It’s actually pretty common, usually the neck goes through a slot cut in the top box for support. This is actually a good packaging plan for the headstock. Some bass shipping boxes are made this way too.

However the instrument body is usually wrapped in something protective and has some sort of packing around it in that case.

I have both received and shipped instruments like this.

Hopefully with a lot more care then that one.

Tying a bow on this…

The seller again apologized and told me that apparently, they couldn’t find the original packaging and so a warehouse guy packed it improperly. They have offered a partial credit and that is currently being processed.

As far as I’m concerned, that makes this a one-time issue and not something I would worry about again with this seller, and I’m marking it down as a positive experience. Or, rather, a negative experience that the seller adequately made up for, which is good, and very customer focused.

Everything’s OK in my book now.
