Man - me too! Kris Kristofferson just became a hero of mine!!!

This story surprised me not one bit. Kris was always great. I unfortunately never got to meet him, but he was born in Brownsville, Texas, as was I. He also played Austin countless times, and we had friends in common, but our paths somehow never crossed. That’s a real drag. I woulda loved to shake his hand.

Back in my university days I confess I was very scornful of country music (I was a Brit and outside of Scotland country never really was big over here) however there were two country musicians that I had albums from; Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson. Now both sadly missed.

Actually, thinking about it, I guess that depends on whether you classify The Eagles as country!

same. same today.

Same for me for Cash

I’ll have to check out Kristofferson.

I think the interesting country music mostly ends up labeled Americana, back in the Kristofferson day it was labeled outlaw country. There are a few songs that have their moments from the mainstream part of country, but it’s mostly a miss for me.

Honky tonk badonkadonk comes to mind as a gem, but that might be because it was popular around my late teenage years and I, uh, appreciated the dancing the song inspired.
