This sucks
just.. shouldn’t happen in this time and this place
That report has been updated. Though still not good news:
Contrary to earlier reports from his former band, founding Parliament-Funkadelic bassist Billy Bass is not dead. However he is in hospice care, according to a new message posted by the Black Rock Coalition.
UPDATED: Parliament-Funkadelic Bassist Billy Bass in Hospice
as if 2026 was not already horrible enough.
Heartbreaking. I’m starting to think that this year is going to end up rivaling 2016.
Three Dog Night, in my opinion, were so underappreciated.
I thought that they got a pretty good share of airtime.
The band had 21 Billboard Hot 100 top 40 hits between 1969 and 1975, with three hitting number one.[4]
Not saying they were unpopular. But I would guess if I were to ask 'Boomers and 'Xers to name me 15 groups who made great songs in that time span that I would not get very many answering 3DN.
But, ask them to name a 3DN song then they might know who Jeremiah is.
“One” was a breakout tune for Three Dog Night. It got tons of air time on TV and radio. It was the precursor of all their hits.
Their three number-one hits were:Mama Told Me (Not to Come), Joy to the World, and Black and White.
“Jeremiah was a bullfrog”. Three Dog Night originally released the song on their fourth studio album, Naturally, in November 1970, and subsequently preleased an edited version of the song as a single in February 1971.[1]
The song, which has been described by members of Three Dog Night as a “kid’s song” and a “silly song”,[4] topped the singles charts in North America, was certified gold by the RIAA, and has since been covered by multiple artists.
The tune was named Joy to the World. The first line was “Jeremiah was a bullfrog.”

It was on this day, 67 years ago, in 1959 near Clear Lake, Iowa that “the music died.”
Yep
I see that you edited your comment about ‘Joy to the World’ ![]()
Nope, edited the Jeremiah reference. The song is named Joy to the World, not Jeremiah reference as OP had written.
Stop being obtuse; you said it wasn’t a hit.
