I guess I’ll be the bad guy here… WHO enjoys AIRPORTS? Delayed flights? Lost luggage?
Name a state park after Dolly … something people love. ![]()

@Frank_Beard or a Theater in her honor … Like the grand Ole Opry … but an Airport??? that is the LAST thing I would think of if you said Dolly Parton to me. ![]()
Lee mentioned Jay P. Morgan (and Tim Curry) in one of his tributes to Dolly. He talks about his session with Parton and how fun they were.
Geez, who has Lee NOT played with!
I don’t think there is an answer to that
over 1200 ALBUMS recorded … he is the most accomplished bass player EVER ![]()
My Fave Lee Slkar story was bout his “producer switch” on his bass… that one NEVER gets old… dead switch… “how does that sound now?”
Great!! keep it that way, … LMAO!!
While Lee is my favorite bass player, I am not sure what measure you are using for calling him the “most accomplished.” Nathan East has appeared on over 2000 recordings.
1200 ALBUMS … not “recordings” … that’s how.
A single album can be what 8 - 10 recordings?
Back to the “In Memoriam” thread.
You’re absolutely correct.
Keeping the focus on the actual purpose of the thread would be most appropriate. Speaking personally, that would be very much appreciated.
Can you imagine. “We brought in Nathan to help with your bass.” OMG
Carol Kaye is credited with 10,000 recordings. James Jamerson with hundreds including 23 number one hit singles. Ron Carter has 2200 recordings. Lee Sklar credited with 2000 albums. I think between the 4 of them, there isn’t really a wrong answer and anyone would be an idiot to say no thanks to having any of these bassists in their studio.
The estimate Carol Kaye at 10,000 recordings. Certainly a lot in the mix of good players.
personally I want Sapko in my band
Interestingly enough, Carol’s oft quoted number is an estimate and not verified. The only one above that is is Ron Carter’s who holds the Guinness world record for most recorded jazz bassist (big fish in a smaller pond).
Not music, but dayam, we just lost a hockey legend. Barry Melrose passed away at 70. He was suffering from Parkinson’s disease. The son of Saskatchewan will be sorely missed.
Damn. He was always on top of the game.
sad news indeed. seems like he’s been around forever.
I am not familiar with this musician- this news is just coming over the wires… but I think I might have heard the song (posted below) that articles indicate was one of his bigger hits:
The only thing I knew him from was that song. I didn’t know about the broadway stuff.
